Great facility. As previously stated, Randy runs a great show. Fall colors are beautiful, and you get a very close look at them before turning base for 27. Bare tree branches and power lines drive the approach to 27 to be fairly steep, but it's worth the trip.

Diverted to 22W to fuel up my recently purchased C-150 that seemed to be drinking more than anticipated. What a great little strip among the mountains. Randy was very helpful and friendly. Coffee and brownies welcomed me, along with a clean bathroom. 2900 feet was just enough on a warm afternoon to clear the trees, though I didn't have much to spare. A great experience. I'll be back.

22W is a great little airport. Randy is the guy that runs the place. I've never met anyone at an FBO who was so helpful. The landing has a little bit of a learning curve but I managed to nail it on the first try.

Somewhat tricky approach/departure due to tree lines and "good neighbor" policy. Helpful advice by airport mgr and their website. Clean bathrooms and office available ONLY when office is open (if you need to use the facilities outside their office hours you're out of luck--it would be nice if they provide access with a keypad). One night overnight parking fee of $7 waived with purchase of fuel. Enterprise Car Rental (828-885-6000) will pick you up @ no charge, while John Johnson Ford charges $20 EACH WAY for pickup & delivery of their rental cars. Gate code to get back onto field is 0927#.

I recently spent several days at 22W. Randy is one of the best individuals I have ever dealt with in aviation. I landed up to 50 times there in three days in our 310 in very windy conditions. Don't let the mountains or the length scare you. The 310 was a pleasure to go in and out of this little airport in. Randy, thanks again and you can guarantee that I'll be back to 22W and highly recommend that if your ever in the area drop by and pay them a visit. Missionary Todd Bell Wings with "The Word"

Randy was super friendly when I visited 22W on December 23. I really appreciate his friendliness over CTAF.

This is a great little airport. Randy, the manager, will certainly make you feel welcome. Getting in and out isn't as bad as I thought, although the departure from 9 is interesting - first clearing the trees off the departure end then a turn to the Northeast to avoid the mountain that lies a short distance upwind. Watch your density altitude performance - a bent-up Beech Bonanza displayed in the tie-down serves as a warning that a 2900 foot runway in the mountains just might not be long enough on a hot day.
