Flew into Lamesa on our way down to Monterrey, Mexico from Colorado Springs, Colorado. Very nice runways at the airport. Met by a very friendly older man. Said I was lucky he was there. We felt as if we had gone back on time. It was nice to see vending machine that sold Mr. Pibb pop and microwave oven from a the Leave It to Beaver program. Told the friendly older man I had seen on Internet/AirNav that his price was $3.45 (which was the best price along the route) and we had decided to stop there. He said he knew nothing about the Internet and his price was $4.41 with credit card and $4.15 with cash. I shrug my shoulders and paid him cash for the fuel. Surprised to see that he did not ground my airplane (Columbia 400) to fuel it. We felt as if he was happy to see us, probably had not seen anybody in a long time. Very friendly person let us use his bathroom and gave us water. Happy Flights!

Stopped in on 11-16-07 for fuel. Nice runways, but it appears to be a crop-duster's airport. Didn't really see an FBO. Stopped at the only building I saw that didn't look like a hangar. Was met by a nice man who fueled my plane even though he was about to head to town. Don't expect much for facilities though.

My wife and I stopped there yesterday, 6-1 on our way home from Page, AZ to Arlington, TX, in our 150. After the hustle and bustle of the big airports, it was nice to be back in Texas. The folks at Johnson Flying Service were great. I didn't see a fueling sign, but just head for the biggest ramp there and you'll see the fuel tank...It's not self-serve. It's a nice, rural airstrip with helpful folks. We'll be back.
