Flew in to Valle yesterday with a group of three. People went out of their way to make sure that we were taken care of. Very friendly staff and personal. Plane Museum and their staff was excellent and very nice also. Got to see several planes and cars that I had never seen before. Only down side was the parking on gravel. Keep up the good work! Thank you, will return again in the near future.

Wow what a friendly airport, nice lady asked if she could make us coffee, we requested a courtesy to go eat at local restaurant, it was unavailable so gentleman who ran the FBO let us use his truck- showed us around the hangar and told us about the history of the planes and cars - I have flown all around Arizona and this was the best FBO.

Generally agree with all the positive comments below - good fuel price, friendly folks, beautiful cars and planes abound... But need to highlight a couple GOTCHAS -- taxiway at south end of field is packed rock - watch out for your prop (midfield taxiway and taxiway to north end are paved) about 50 feet (more or less) from the approach end of 19 there is a 8-10" crack in the runway that had been filled with a gooey substance that gave the appearance of roofing tar (not that hot - temps in the 80s)...Needless to say, the TBM (on 18 x 5.50 tires) sank to the wheel rims. Larry bent over backwards and spared no effort to extract us, but we still lost 2 1/2 hours and they still have a big crack in the asphalt. Would hate to think of a nosewheel getting caught in there... (Word is they are repairing the crack...But y'all should still know about it...Maybe a follow up from the friendly folks at the airport?)
Response from Norm Gobeil, Airport Manager, Valle Airport Mr. McIrvin's plane did get caught in a crack where the crack-seal didn't hold. We closed the runway and on Monday morning started work to repair the crack with an asphalt patch. The runway was closed for a few days, but is now open again. We believe the unusal warm weather had caused the original patch to fail. I'd like to personally apologize for any inconvenience caused by the mishap and thank you for your kind comments about the airport and the staff. Making a quality aviation experience for visitors to the Valle Airport and the Planes of Fame Museum is the top priority of everyone here at 40G.

Came in with a pair of high school students while giving them an intro flight. Everyone at the FBO was very helpful. We were able to quickly throw some gas in the tanks, scarf down lunch, and get out in time to avoid the building WX. The speed and helpfulness of the staff at the FBO was a huge help in our quick turn. Will definitely be coming back to take a look at the cars and aircraft museum. From what the guy at the FBO said (Larry?) the airport is actually privately owned but open to the public, these guys have a real passion for general aviation and it shows! By the way, watch out for critters on the runway. There were some elk on the approach end of 19 about 30 minutes prior to our arrival and a coyote decided to run out onto the runway just prior to rotation.

Larry was very helpful and generous. He wouldn't even let me pay for my fuel as I was flying a US Soldier wounded in Iraq on an Angel flight Mission. Great stop with antique cars on display in the lobby and an air museum next door. Courtesy car for lunch/dinner and a rental van to go see the Grand Canyon. Please make this your stop and help support an airport that supports America.

We landed at Valle Airport after reading about it on AirNav.Com.. What a nice facility with friendly and helpful people. We spent three hours there having lunch, viewing the antique cars and motorcycles and then having a private tour of the owners’ hangar and aircraft. He has one of the few remaining Ford Trimotors that is still flying. This is a real find and one that I hope to return to many times in the future

We flew in with 5 planes on 9/16. The FBO staff is friendly and professional. The facilities and rental cars are well maintained and clean. Planes of Fame museum is a fun stop. Great alternative to GCN for the general aviation pilot.

It is odd that I should write this about Grand Canyon Valle Airport (40G), as I've never been there. However, the folks at 40G bailed me out when my Mooney was disabled at the other Grand Canyon airport (KGCN). Unable to get service for my brakes or brake fluid at KGCN, the folks at 40G thankfully sold me the brake fluid I needed. They charged me $4.00 for a quart! Now that's a bargain, as I don't know of anything associated with flying that costs that little!! In addition they provided cell phone guidance (on a weekend) on how and where to add the brake fluid. Judging from the other AirNav comments about 40G, that is the way they are at 40G... Just downright nice and helpful. If I am ever out that way again, I'll surely drop in to thank the 40G staff personally.

Stopped in for some Jet for the TBM, a peek at the Air Museum and a quick lunch. Larry (FBO chief) took great care of us. Great facility. Used a crew car to get some to go food at a nearby restaurant. Ask Larry how his T-6 project is going :o) I filed LAS as my first fix and ate lunch over the Grand Canyon. Tell your friends about Valle Airport.

To Valle Airport Staff: THANK YOU!!! Your hospitality, customer service, courtesy & generosity were unparalleled. You made this a most memorable Big Bear Airport Pilot's Association fly in for 9 airplanes & 17 members. I've never seen so many strangers willing to go out of their way to help you. You folks are awesome! Thanks again!

Flew in on June 1 and rented a car to go to the Grand Canyon. Was very pleased with the nice service and how friendly everyone was. This is a great base to use for a Grand Canyon adventure.

I and a friend flew in on 3 June for a bite of breakfast and to tour the museum. This is a really outstanding place to stop. The FBO operates the Unicom and the service is top notch. Courtesy cars are available as are rental cars. They tie you down & fuel is there before you can unload. 2 restaurants within 5 min walk. Good lodging available at the same distances. Great museum, FBO is loaded with classic autos and motorcycles. Only 20 or so miles from Grand Canyon. Great place to fly into and stay if you are going to tour the canyon. I will be returning.

Visited April 24 - 26 2008. I agree with everyone else - this is the friendliest, and at the same time least expensive, airport I have ever visited. Much better than KGCN for Grand Canyon visit. $40/day for a nice 7-person van. "Grand Canyon Inn" motel and restaurant an easy (less than 1/2 mile) walk (FBO will drive you during normal business hours). Can recommend more highly! Just watch the density altitude.

We flew the GPS 1 practice IAP into Valle Sunday. Great wx, classic cars, good food at Flintstones restaurant, really nice air museum, and friendly Shirley and Mary made it a memorable experience. We'll return to see the Ford Trimotor and the Lockheed Constellation.

Excellent service and friendly staff. Rental car was ready and brought to our plane upon taxiing in. Hotels right across the street, and the Planes of Fame Museum right on the field. It is a lot better to stop here (40G) than at the busy Grand Canyon Airport (KGCN), where there are no rental cars. It's only a 25-minute ride to the Canyon rim.

A very good experience. Reasonable fuel prices and very nice people. They were wonderful hosts, recommended good lodging, and had a nice van at a good price. The museum is worth seeing as well. Beware the gravel taxiways though. It might be better to back taxi unless you have a lot of ground clearance.
