2/19/24 fly-in from IL: Nice new runway with like condition airport building. There are power lines to be aware of, but not a material safety issue. Cell service is spotty, especially to the north, so confirm your flight plan is closed at the airport. Fence gate to airport access was unlocked, but suggest double checking with management. Code was 5321* or 1228 (Unicom). The airport building is within the fence, south of the fuel pumps, between the north and south hangars, not the building outside the fence, which Google Earth identifies. Mike Kymes, current airport manager - call the City at 231.689.1194 since the airport is irregularly manned. It's also snow conditions#. Mr. Kymes was courteous and very informational about the airport's operations, parking, fuel availability, transportation, and the runaway and ramp area were expertly cleared for easy maneuvering.
