I had a similar experience landing at Blue Knob Valley recently, expecting to buy cheap fuel. However, the fuel farm was locked and no one around on a Saturday. Nice country though, about 10SM south of the famous horseshow curve. One important point about landing here though. The runway and taxiways are shale/rock. There are LOTs of little rocks and pebbles. I was not pleased with myself that I landed there, but managed to do a very gentle, short-field takeoff without nicking up my prop.
