Flew back into Lafayette this week and was pleasantly surprised to see the new refurbished runway. This is a great little airport with wonderful people in the FBO. They're always willing to go out of their way to help you figure out the self-service fueling system or just help you find a funnel so you can add oil to your engine. 9A5 has become my airport of choice when flying into the Chattanooga area.

Airport is open again. A BEAUTIFUL new runway.

The airport is currently closed for runway construction. Be sure to check the NOTAM's before departing for Lafayette. Hopefully, the construction will only improve an already nice place to visit.

Stopped in Lafayette twice in May, the staff at the airport office was always friendly and had time to shoot the breeze. They loaned us a courtesy car for the day and gave some recommendations for food and hotel. I'll agree with the previous post that the trees need to be trimmed.

Stopped in Lafayette for a weekend. The FBO staff was friendly and helpful. Loaned us one of the cars and just made us feel welcomed.

Great, friendly, helpful personnel manning the FBO, but the airport itself needs some TLC from the City of Lafayette. Runways are poorly marked and trees on approach end to 02 needs to be cut. Relative to the trees, if landing at night, be aware and don't come in too low. Also, lots of deer in the vicinity of the airport...Saw 5 crossing this morning just prior to departure.
