Stopped in today, nice airport, crew car could use an air conditioner, everyone was very helpful.

Always reliable for fuel (unlike nearby Marfa) and pleasant airport for relaxation, as well as the City of Alpine. Ramp and runway relatively clear of FOD/gravel. If parking your plane here for an hour or several days, make sure you tie it down. Lot's of Dust Devils blow through here unexpectedly during Spring, Summer months. Some of the most scenic areas in the state for flying. Sometimes a busy airport, watch out for Hawkers and other jets as well as Super Cubs and Cessna's galore, but most pilots do a great job of communicating on the radio.

Nice little FBO. Good rates on fuel. Johnny and Teddy do a great job here.

I made my second trip to E38 for a weekend of camping. As with the previous trip, I was greeted with plenty of west Texas hospitality. Alpine Auto makes it easy to rent, as they'll drop a car for you at the airport; also had a good second experience with them. Beware the density altitude and rising terrain -- it will get your attention, especially if you're a lowlander like me.
