Always reliable for fuel (unlike nearby Marfa) and pleasant airport for relaxation, as well as the City of Alpine. Ramp and runway relatively clear of FOD/gravel. If parking your plane here for an hour or several days, make sure you tie it down. Lot's of Dust Devils blow through here unexpectedly during Spring, Summer months. Some of the most scenic areas in the state for flying. Sometimes a busy airport, watch out for Hawkers and other jets as well as Super Cubs and Cessna's galore, but most pilots do a great job of communicating on the radio.

Nice little FBO. Good rates on fuel. Johnny and Teddy do a great job here.

I made my second trip to E38 for a weekend of camping. As with the previous trip, I was greeted with plenty of west Texas hospitality. Alpine Auto makes it easy to rent, as they'll drop a car for you at the airport; also had a good second experience with them. Beware the density altitude and rising terrain -- it will get your attention, especially if you're a lowlander like me.

I said I'd be back...Well, it took 11 months to find the time, but I'm back. Got tied down and off for a week in Chihuahua, MX. On the return, found wind gusting to 34kts. I was glad I'd secured it well! The FBO attendant was VERY helpful in assisting in handling and fueling under these conditons. Once airborne, the 34 kts provided a great boost toward home. This is a great place to stop and the gateway airport to Big Bend and other area interests.

Excellent airport! Great runways and nice taxiways. We flew into Alpine, refueled at the self service pump and tied down the airplane. Alpine Auto Rental had given the keys of our Taurus to Johnny, the airport manager. For $45 daily + 0.10 a mile, we headed to Big Bend National Park. Alpine is THE airport of choice for a trip to this area and Big Bend National Park. The FBO has a nice lounge area with computer and phone. I will definitely going back to visit Alpine! Great overall experience!!

Great airport, great people. Alpine Auto rental will leave a car for you at the field -- very convenient. The Holland Hotel has lots of character, great staff, and is reasonably priced. Alpine turned out to be a great fly-in base for a trip out to Big Bend and McDonald Observatory.

Landed at Alpine. Everyone was very friendly and helpful. They had some donuts and coffee available. We stoped there on the way back from Big Bend also. We will be back nice people. Gas was a little high.
