Very friendly airport. The attendant who did most of the fueling greeted us at the self-serve fuel pump. We were offered a courtesy car spontaneously and with a recommended restaurant on a second offer, but since we were making tracks to get to our destination in Denver before dark, so we declined. A good stop.

A fast moving T-Storm prompted a stop at Macon, MO (K89) to seek shelter. Flight watch had informed me that 1.5-inch hail was on the way and with that information Wayne & Tracy had us in a hangar pronto. Then he loaded my family and I in the loaner mini-van and made sure we had a map and directions to local restaurants while we waited out the storm. We also discovered a local treasure, Long Branch State Park. After the storm passed our children played on the playground while the wife and I took in the view of the gorgeous 1828-acre lake. Once back at the airport Wayne had us out of the hangar, tanks top and ready to fly in short order. They have recently installed a pay at the pump credit card machine for fueling after hours as well. We left refreshed, with new friends and a desire to return to Macon, MO any time we're in the area. Thanks Wayne! Jeff Bogaard PA-28/140 N7125R Home base 0N0 Roosterville Kansas City, MO

Perhaps the best GA airport experience of my flying career. After being stranded in Peru, IL due to weather, I tried to make it back to Harrisonville (LRY) but due to low ceilings, waning daylight and an unexpected encounter with IMC, I opted to put the plane down at K89. While the circumstances that led me to K89 were less than ideal, the service and hospitality were outstanding. First, there was someone at the airport, which was a pleasant surprise. I was provided with a courtesy vehicle and directed to a nearby motel. The next day while waiting for the weather to lift, I was treated like one of the family during my daylong stay in the pilot's lounge. I will make sure to spread the word about the service at K89, which was certainly above and beyond the call of duty. --Thanks

The owner had a hangar waiting for me as promised for my three-day stay. When I returned on Saturday afternoon to leave, I found that my Mooney had blown a tube on its right main. I was stuck 500 miles from home with an 83 and 5 year olds with no spare tire tube, no tools and on a field with no based maintenance. Three hours later with the help of the owners, the EAA hangar and the local John Deer mechanic who said, "I never knew I could fix airplane tires", I was on my way home. Keep up the great work guys! Thank You.

I can't say enough about these guys! Wayne "Papaw" was outstanding. Answered promptly when asking for airport advisories. Met us at the fuel pump and helped us hangar the aircraft for two days. I wish every FBO maintained their standard of service.

Stopped in looking for the $100 hamburger at 5:00pm. We were given a field advisory 5 miles out and received a courtesy van and directions to great food. Bill was very accommodating and pleasant and stayed until our return at 6:00pm. All without a fuel purchase. Clean facilities and friendly atmosphere. I will be back with friends! Try Raspberry's Bar-B-Q - good food at a good price. Another restaurant is within walking distance, but they close at 2:00pm.

In route from California to Virginia we had the pleasure of running out of time and good visibility near Macon. We had not planned a stop hear, but a call immediatly brought back an airport advisory and as we taxied up we were met by one the sargents of Flying Sergeants Airport Service. The two sargents just started the FBO at the first of the month. Bill and Wayne were very helpful with everything from tie down to help with luggage. They gave us a lift to a motel in town and pickup on call the following morning. All this and I we didn't even by gas. They are working on a courtesy car and have hanger available for rent overnight. I'll plan on stopping here on my way back.
