Stopped by on a solo x country from 5T6 and was pleased with the service. I had a few troubles with the cowling and the mechanic gladly made sure everything seemed in order. The facilities were a little dirty and run down but the people were friendly...

Willing to let us use a computer for flight planning but only if we bought (very pricey) gas, and watched like a hawk the whole time we planned. This could be a great FBO... PS - just a warning: they spilled fuel all over the aircraft and didn't even try to wipe it up then tried to add even more gas to an already full tank. It's all just money in his pocket to him. If possible go to CNM (Carlsbad) just a short hop east over the mtns - 24-hour competitively priced fuel and great, friendly service.

The day I flew in with my P baron I was a little concerned about the service available, but upon leaving and spending a little time talking with the people at Ed's, I have no concerns. They are good small town people moving at a much slower pace than us 200 mph jockeys, and they have seen it all come and go. Invest a little time in conversation with them and you will be rewarded, but fuel cost is no bargain.

Unfortunately, Ed's is NOT the place to go for friendly helpful service. It's more in the "disservice" column. Ed basically watched me hunt for a spot, push back by myself, tie the plane down myself, lug my baggage across the ramp, and then blocked the door so I couldn't get in or use the restroom. My fuel order was greeted with one word: "today?" And fuel was $6.85 per gallon (he quotes it at less, but does so by listing all the taxes separately).

Eds flying service is an insult to the aviation industry. Very bad attitudes for such a hole in the wall place, avoid if possible

Stopped by back in November. Good enough service and a tie-down over night. Having lived there, yes, Alamogordo is beautiful, but it's a small town with small town amenities. Ed's is well stocked, but if you have the option (active duty and do some paperwork), the Aeroclub at Holloman treated us much better and had a much lower fuel price.

Don't know about the other reports. Ed was very friendly. I was running late and he called to make sure Hertz would stay open for my rental car. Had my plane fueled early and didn't charge me any tie down fees for my couple days stay.

Definitely not user friendly. On 10/28/07 drove by after the Holloman Air and Space Expo to check-out their facilities. Got there about 4:50pm and was told they were closing shop and didn't have time to show me around. So much for customer service.

Landed there at 4:30p local. I thought I was in a western movie and arrived at a ghost town. Ed's Flying Service was shut down like it hadn't been open in years. A few old 30 year old cars and a beat up RV sitting in front that looked like they were there in a bone yard. It was not what I needed...I needed fuel and a look at the weather radar. So, don't stop here if you need anything except of photo of your aircraft in a western ghost town. I took off and headed to Las Cruces where they had fuel and food.
