The lineman actually washed my window. I can't remember the last time that happened. Also, he put my plane in a hangar when a big storm was coming through, though I was paying tie down rates. No, the fuel isn't cheap (though it's lower than at Image Air), and yes, Platinum Jet does have a 12-gallon minimum purchase to waive the ramp fee, and yes, they don't waive their overnight parking fee with a fuel purchase. But I can't argue with the service.

I flew to BMI today from SUS. Didn't really need gas, but I typically purchase to help support FBO's. Line personnel (very courteous) informed me that unless I purchased 12 gallons, there would be a ramp fee. So, if you top off tanks but it doesn't come to 12 gallons you still get socked. Welcome to BMI. Of course they can charge whatever they want, and pilots in turn can go somewhere for gas. My recon is go to the other FBO. I pulled past the yellow line and declined the gas purchase and ramp fee.

Great service. Great employees. Great fuel prices (.32 cents lower than the other FBO and that's BEFORE the volume discount they gave us) and I check every FBO where ever we land. We have a charter service and know what great customer service SHOULD be and Platinum has it! Wonderful job. We will be back twice in July 08. Looking forward to it. And to the whiney pilots, who don't think there should be ramp and handling fees, get a life. Next you'll want Platinum to send a crew car to the other FBO and pick you up for free. Platinum Jet Center is a rip off. Their ramp price is out of this world.

Ground control directed us to Platinun Jet Center as it was the closest FBO to the new (very good C J's Restaurant.) Upon returning advised we owed a $31.00 ramp and landing fee.

Stopped in on Sunday for breakfast at CJs with our club flyers. Tower directed us to park at one of the two FBOs even when told only wanted to go to CJs. Platinum personnel, although courteous, weren't sure where to put all the aircraft and told us how to get to the restaurant. Upon return we were informed that each aircraft had to pay a $31 dollar fee - $25 for 'Facility Use' and a $6 'Airport Fee'. Per CJ's manager, parking for CJ's patrons, is available directly in front of the restaurant with access through an approved TSA door. Platinum personnel were unwilling to compromise on any part of the fee. CJ's manager solved our problem and as such I heartily recommend CJ's - can't say the same for Platinum.

Upon arrival at KBMI this morning we requested parking at the restaurant and were told by ground control that we could not park there. After breakfast at CJ's we returned to our plane to find we had $6 airport fee and a $25 "service fee" from Platinum. The restaurant owner came over with a check and paid the ramp fees in full for our entire group of about 10 planes. We did not ask the restaurant owner to do this and I don't know how he knew we were being confronted, but perhaps he's run into this before. Walking out to my plane I then realized I was parked outside the blue line that defines the Platinum ramp. IMHO Platinum was very hostile this morning to a large group of pilots. CJ's Restaurant is genuinely concerned that pilots have a positive experience at KBMI. CJ's has a controlled door for pilots to enter the restaurant right on the ramp and parking is supposed to be allowed in front of the restaurant per CJ Stolfa the restaurant owner.
Response from David Schlentner, Vice President and General Manager, Platinum Jet Center BMI For all who commented on their visit to BMI, Platinum and CJ's on March 9. Please understand we had no prior communication of your Club's arrival plans nor were we aware the airport had implemented special arrangements for CJ's. We did provide a discounted facility fee for everyone who did not purchase fuel and for those who purchased fuel there was no fee which is our policy and we understand they were pleased with our low fuel prices. The airport requires us to collect the $6 ramp fee but we were not aware they had made a special deal with CJ's. Please understand we value your business and our staff is regularly recognized for their courteous service. At no time were they ever "hostile" while trying to mitigate a difficult situation. Thank you for your comments.

Wow!! Platinum delivers service like nowhere else. Long story short...I ended up with a dead battery. David jumped the plane and I thought we were good to go. After Takeoff, I noticed that the battery was discharging. Turned back and David put me on a charger, FROM THE TRUNK OF HIS CAR! Next day, Fred was there to launch us. He took very good care of us. I cannot recommend platinum enough. The best I've ever experienced. David, Fred and the young ladies at the desk provided exemplary customer service.

Very good customer service. Very expensive customer service. I called ahead and asked about the ramp fee, was told $35.00, turns out is was $100.00. They have a really nice plasma TV but the really cheap Dish service package, Weather Channel, CNN, were the good ones. I felt like I was at Signature without the amenities. They offered to make the mistake on the ramp fee right the next time I come in - guess what - won't be a next time. Until they lower the ramp fee or minimum fuel purchase I would not recommend them.

Stopped in at Platinum today 09/05/07 while waiting for some never received service from Bloomington Aviation (don't go there for service). Platinum was VERY PLEASANT AND ACCOMMODATING even though they knew they were not going to make any money from me. Gave me a full tour, let me use their lounge and facility. If you go to Bloomington, give this newer FBO a chance.

I stopped at Platinum today. The other comment was true however they rushed out and moved them before I got to the ramp. The other ladies comment about a student and a ramp fee is also true. They waived the fee for me after I got upset. The ramp people were very nice, and went over the top to be helpful. This business is obviously owned by a person that has some fetish about us older guys with shorter bladder range than tank range. I went ahead and bought the minimum of 12 gal, as I did not want any of the great ramp guys to get in trouble. Send this guy an e-mail if you aren't accustom to this kind of treatment. Buy the way their fuel price was less than the other guys on the field
Response from David Schlentner, Platinum Jet Center BMI We at Platinum Jet Center would first like to thank our many customers for their business since our opening in October of 2006. We also thank those customers who have directly shared their many positive comments about our helpful staff and beautiful facility during their visits. We very much welcome feedback as noted below as it challenges us to improve services and question policies as our business grows. Facility fees are necessary for FBO's to recoup their sizeable capital investments. In our case this investment was more than $7 million. Our fees are not hidden, are benchmarked regularly and tiered to aircraft type and fuel purchase amounts. As noted below, our fuel prices are the lowest at BMI and our 35,000 sf facility is state of the art and designed to accommodate single engine aircraft through a Boeing 737 (44 ft door). Come visit us soon and see for yourself the many available amenities at Platinum Jet Center BMI.

I sent my student in a C152 to BMI for a solo cross country. Tower directed him to the nearest FBO, which was Platinum. Turned out there was a $31 ramp fee they did not waive, as most do for a student.

Platinum keeps parking their trucks too close to taxiway A -- there is a Notam to that effect on the KBMI ATIS -- so please be careful when taxiing near their facility!
