Stopped in for fuel and an overnight stay. Good customer service. TAC Air CSR set us up at the Hampton Inn, probably the best deal in town. (Make sure you verify you are getting the TAC Air rate at the hotel though, we almost didn't.) We come from a similar size town, so ramp and fuel prices seemed normal. Good line service. They met us with a golf cart to haul bags, and helped put a cabin cover on the aircraft.

Stopped for fuel and dinner and used the courtesy car. Quick turn around for us, staff was very friendly. $10 landing fee charged by airport, not FBO, but service and convenience are worth it.

From Mike Ciholas on 12-Mar-2009
Not a whole lot of options for airports or FBOs when flying into Chattanooga. TAC Air was good service; there is a $10 fee (apparently goes to the airport, not TAC Air). The only weirdness is that they will give you a GPU for free, but wouldn't let me start both engines on it, just one. Caught me off guard, as I never had that happen before and not something to argue about when you have one running on the ramp. Fuel is high. Did let me borrow crew car twice, which was very helpful.

After getting a rental car to go into town and buying 30 gal of fuel, I still got stuck with the $10 ramp fee. Not coming back if I can help it. Do yourself a favor and go 20 minutes to the NW at KRNC (McMinnville) and get the cheapest fuel within 150 miles.

I'm a local flyer from Georgia and landed at CHA, the service at TAC Air South is great. They went and picked up my mother from the delta terminal and brought her right over to our plane, at no cost. Yes there is no landing fee at TAC Air South at the other side of the main terminal and the service is outstanding. Lately I drove up with my family and the crew at North was great and showed my grandson around and gave him fresh baked cookies. A great place to stop at even if you stop at North and pay the $10.00

My family and I were treated to exceptional service when we recently overnighted on a trip from Kansas City to Myrtle Beach. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Fuel was high, but not the highest we experienced on this trip. Ramp fee added about $.40 per gallon. The ramp fee was more than offset by the good service. Line personnel met us at the plane with a golf cart to haul bags, and called the hotel shuttle. We were soaking in the hotel pool within 30 minutes after arriving on the ramp....

The steady decline in service during recent years at this FBO is now among the worst I can recall at any airport. Consider your options before you land in Chattanooga.

From Richard Traunero on 21-Mar-2008
Good service. Stopped for fuel, decided to spend the night. The desk people called the Hampton Inn, who came to get us, got a good rate. $10 parking fee overnight, no other fees, purchased fuel.

Citation II flight crew from La Crosse, Wisconsin. We visit Chattanooga frequently for business. TAC Air CHA is a top-notch facility. Despite the complaints from others about the $10 fees, TAC Air maintains a high-level of customer service. Those who complain have never been involved in the intricate relationships that FBOs maintain with their airport authority. Having been an FBO owner myself, I understand and appreciate that fuel alone does not pay the bills, especially in today’s volatile fuel market. FBOs are "you get what you pay for" and TAC Air CHA has consistently provided us "yes sir" attitude and a warm southern welcome. Thanks to all, especially Britney and Amber who help make our plans come together nicely.

From Jeff Hersom on 19-Jan-2008
Nice FBO, friendly personnel, even to a lowly Cessna 150! My co-pilot left her purse and as we were taxiing back in, one of the CSRs came out to the plane to return it.

From Dave Reynolds on 18-Jan-2008
I wrote about the parking fee, this was the response: Thank you for taking the time to express your concern regarding the parking fee at CHA. As you indicated, the Airport Authority charges a $10 fee for aircraft parking outside of our FBO's leasehold on their North ramp. As you may know from your flights through CHA, our only FBO operates on both the North and South side of Lovell Field. On the South Side, their lease payments to the airport include a large area of the ramp, which they use and are responsible to maintain. On the North Side, a vast majority of the ramp is outside their leasehold, and is therefore CMAA's responsibility to maintain. The parking fee was implemented to ensure that if our FBO parks aircraft outside their leasehold, CMAA can generate the funds necessary to maintain the infrastructure. I apologize for any inconvenience it may have caused, but the FAA has charged us with recovering our costs from the users to maintain the airport's infrastructure.

I have to second the previous few comments. Flew in and paid $4.85 a gallon. Was there long enough to walk to the counter and pay to get hit with a $10 landing fee. They said to take it up with the airport authority, as they are the ones imposing this fee. And to think I am considering moving to the Chattanooga area and will keep two planes there, not anymore. They clearly think general aviation is a bother. Shame!

From Russell Norris on 04-Dec-2007
The most General Aviation Unfriendly FBO I have encountered in 10 yrs & 15+ States of flying. Although the line & counter staff are unfailingly courteous, the fuel prices, landing/ramp fees (see other posts), and limited hours of operation (with outrageous call-out fees) make TAC Air CHA a NO GO for piston drivers spending their own money. Consider Collegedale, TN or Dalton, GA airports where piston traffic is appreciated. STAFF--B+, MANAGEMENT/POLICIES--F.

From W. Mitty on 02-Dec-2007
Fuel price was predictably a bit high at this one-FBO airport, but $10 to park the airplane for an hour was ridiculous when I bought 27 gallons of expensive fuel. Go elsewhere.

From Paul Larsen on 11-Nov-2007
Nice people but the $10 fee just to park for the 10 minutes required to fuel my Mooney will keep me away for a long time ... Pilots should boycott such places!

From Eric Scheibe on 19-Sep-2007
N5904J, C182. Flew in on Tues afternoon. Ramp was very busy with business jets, yet the line guys still found time to park us and gave us a ride to the main terminal. Great service!

From Matthew Curtis on 18-Jul-2007
Citation II flight crew from La Crosse, WI. Great service overall. Very nice Toyota Sienna courtesy van. Line techs were great and let us use the GPU for an HOUR to keep the A/C on in the plane as our passengers were delayed getting to the airport. Will stop again!

From Larry Wixom on 25-Jun-2007
Stopped on my way back from Florida. Very nice stop. Fuel price was average. Person behind the desk got me a great deal at the hotel!! I'd stop here again. The tower was even GREAT helping me get around the airport with the taxiway construction!

From Nathan Cronquist on 23-May-2007
Stopped at TAC Air South...Was able to use crew car and didn't have to pay the $10 landing fee. Employees were friendly and helpful. A convenient location and very easy to get to even with all the taxiway closures. I'll be back.

From Antonio More on 10-May-2007
TAC Air South is very clean and comfortable; great popcorn! Nice stop-over point.

From Fred Day on 06-May-2007
Fast service. NO discount for Angel Flight.

From John Hempel on 27-Apr-2007
The people were friendly. The plane was taken care of quickly, even though I was flying my 172 in a Lear Jet world. The fuel was a little high. I thought the $10 charge was a bit out of line considering the fuel cost. The line guy explained that it was the airport, not TAC Air charging the fee. I was on business and will be reimbursed. I doubt if I would stop there if I were on a pleasure trip. There are other options in the area. The service was good, but the prices were high.

From Steve Eshleman on 21-Apr-2007
Excellent experience on overnight visit. Service was good, and staff was friendly. Hertz car rental in same reception room was great! The $10 ramp fee that so many complain about includes one night parking. N3463G. Thanks.

From Ron A. Reister on 18-Apr-2007
I have always been willing to pay a little more for fuel at Tac Air because of the great service. Much to my disappointment, the service, friendliness and attitudes have declined... And the $10 charge for a 45-minute fuel stop to buy 38 gallons of 100LL is a travesty.

From Mike Whitt on 01-Apr-2007
Thanks TAC personnel (Mike & Britney). You treated a 152 pilot like a king!

From Nick Braden on 19-Mar-2007
Was there for maybe ten minutes to buy fuel and was charged a $10 ramp fee.

From Kevin Colson on 22-Feb-2007
I was directed to stop by a slow walking line man as I came on to the TAC Air ramp. I don't think he could have walked slower. I told the line man that we would be there for about ten minutes to buy fuel and let the passengers get out. I asked if they were planning to tow us and got a negative response. I told him I would leave the stearing pin in then. Within a few minutes, he had hooked to the nose gear with a tug and was pushing the plane with the stearing pin in. Before I could run to stop him, he had pushed the plane back to the edge of the ramp. That could have been a six figure repair. I then paid more for fuel then I had paid the day before in Teterboro, NJ which is usually the most expensive fuel in the Eastern US. At that New York area airport the fuel was .65 cents less then TAC Air's fuel. They accept no contract fuel cards. I have been stopping at this place starting in 1981 and then it was another name. I have made the biggest mistake in a long time when I stopped here.

From Rich Gorkes on 27-Dec-2006
Flew up to CHA to meet a buddy of mine and get some lunch...Gone maybe 1.5 hrs. And then got a bill from TAC Air for $10. Will not go back there again. TAC needs to talk to the airport authority to get this high ramp fee eliminated otherwise the FBO will suffer financially as many pilots have already stated, they will not return.

From Keith Moore on 04-Dec-2006
Flew into CHA this weekend, paid the $10 parking fee again. However the folks at the desk happened to mention that the parking fee only applies to the north TacAir ramp. On the other hand, the south side isn't always open (like, not on weekends?) so it might be worth calling them ahead of time to make sure.
