Flew in on Labor Day. No other planes or people at the airport. Gas priced near $7 a gallon. No more courtesy cars like they had a couple years ago. Smitty's Taxi is quick to come out and for $6 will take you to town. 928-635-9825 I had the number with me, good thing because there was no info at the terminal. Cracks in runway, ramp and taxi are growing grass and creating debris. Williams is a nice town to fly to. I hope conditions improve at this airport.

I went back to Williams this weekend 8-23-08 and again fuel was 6.85 a gal. But to top it off the card reader on the fuel pump was not working. DO not stop here for fuel. Cute Airport BUT MISMANAGED.... Wake up Williams don't run this airport into the ground.

What a cute airport well worth the stop to ride the train to the Grand Canyon. Do not get fuel here. It is a rip off..... Fly to Valley AIrport, much cheaper.....

Nice airport but shy on advance info. No fuel available and they don't know when. Took Smitty's taxi to town and they were SUPER! $6.00 each way and fast! If you're going to take the train to the Grand Canyon buy just the train tickets and not the food package. There are many great places to eat other than Max and Thelma's.

Wanted to fly up to take the Grand Canyon train tour, so I called ahead to check on fuel and transportation. Got no answer on the FBO number or the one for the airport manager, so we opted to drive to Williams from Scottsdale. Got there early enough to drop by the airport and found the FBO open but unattended. Saw no information posted about transportation services. The town of Williams goes all out to provide services related to the Grand Canyon but they seem to have forgotten about their airport. Too bad! Suggest that there be a message on the telephone when the FBO is unattended. This is a great looking facility but the lack of information available to us kept us from flying in.

WOW $5.50 a gallon, they sure know how to make folks not land there. I was going to stop there, but at that price, I will give it a miss. Motels in the area look good, but I will give it a miss this trip. Ken Andrew. Commander N377SB

No longer the cheapest gas stop on the I-40 route...Winslow (INW) usually lower now. Hope Williams gets back on the program, but I'm not holding my breath.

Nice terminal, we found it open but empty (Sunday morning). The price advertised at the self-serve pump was a hard to believe $2.99, but the pump was out of service and it was not clear since when, or when it will be repaired. Plenty of other refueling options in the vicinity though...

Very nice airport - cheapest fuel in the region - 24/7 self serve gas. Nice new terminal. Very laid back. Makes a great stop if you are in the area.

From Fred Fourcher on 09-Aug-2006
Fred and Lori Steffensmeier are very accommodating! I took my family on the Grand Canyon Railway. Lori took us to the railroad hotel and waited around the day after to take us back to the airport. The Self Service fuel worked great and the price is right. Clean new terminal. Overall a great place to visit!

Stopped for fuel on Monday the 24th of Jul. On my way up to Heber UT. Place was deserted. The self-service pump had easy access but the electric rewind on the hose was broke had to rewind by hand. Didn't matter much, the front door to the lobby was open and was able to use the restroom to wash up. Was easy in and out, and despite the hose rewind not working I'm gonna use it again on the way back on Sunday. Fuel is cheaper than anything around. Saving $25 every time you fill up is worth the effort!

Wonderful stop to catch the train to the Grand Canyon. I called in advance and Fred sounded friendly and helpful. Once we got there we were late for the train and Fred not only rushed us to the Railroad station, he had in the car plenty of water bottles and snacks for us to take! He was a great help on our way back as well, picking us up giving us a good price on gas. Definitely a friendly place! Thanks Fred!

Flew in the evening of April 18 and out the morning of April 20. Great little airport. $3.00 per night for a tie down! Wonderful stop for seeing the Grand Canyon.

I flew into Clark Memorial on a cold and windy evening. The wind chill was below zero and it was snowing a little. George and his wife Charlie met me at the parking area. George helped me unload all my luggage and secure the plane while Charlie provided a nice "warm" car for my girlfriend. (Impressive) I was the only plane there so they actually loaned me a personal vehicle for two days so I could get around town. (Unbelievable) On the bitter cold morning of my departure when my plane would not start, George spent two hours "de-thawing" my plane while refusing any assistance from me. Once he got it started, I had to argue with him before he would accept any money. (Unheard of) As I turned crosswind for departure, I looked down and saw George and Charlie parked at the end of the runway watching my takeoff to make sure I made it out safely. AMAZING HOSPITALITY!

Wonderful stop yesterday. The price was as advertised and the self serve pump was well-maintained, although George didn't let me do much of the service! They told me there are two courtesy cars available, but I didn't have a use for one this time. Call in advance if you want to ensure a vehicle. Highly recommended!

Flew through Williams at around 10pm at night on a moonless night. If you've never seen Williams during the day, going there at night is definately a scary feeling since the TAWS had red all around me and there were very few lights on the ground as reference points. Even though the VASI is supposed to be good out to 5mi, 10 degrees, its still rather nerve racking going in for the first time. Oh the joys of finding fuel at night. Anyway, one of the gentelman who lived on the field came out (it was -6C outside) to help me with the pump (brrrrr) and offered me a Starbucks Frap. Geesh, nice service. He also gave some really good advice on how to circle to get out of there with all the mountains around the area. Good for a stopover if you are familiar with the area.

Flew in on trip from Grand Canyon late afternoon. Airport clean and well maintained. No one around so we took taxi (Smittys) into town for only $7.00. Enjoyed the shops and ate great ribs at Typhoon Saloon. Upon return Sunday morning airport doors were still locked at 8:30 which was a problem. Self serve fuel was available with reasonable rates. Overall a great airport and weekend flying experience. We will return!
