DeLand Jet Center is about the people that work there. No, you're not going to get fancy looking fluff but... I called the day before and told Jim I'd be there before 10:00 AM. My rental car was waiting for me, no fuss, no muss. When I pulled up to the ramp, he greeted me with the fuel truck and harbored no ill will when I told him I was going to use the use the self-serve. The best part is when I left. Sometimes when I get into 'Pilot' mode, all else goes by the wayside. Long story short, I forgot my portfolio on a table in the lobby. I received a call from Hunter, who without me sending him a dime, mailed it back to me. I then call, asked how much and mailed him the money. This is the America I used to know. It's refreshing to know is still lives in a place called DeLand, Florida. Thanks Guys!

Flew into DED this weekend for a couple hours. The FBO is difficult to find but just look for the fuel truck. The place was not crowded. Nobody guided me in. But they didn't charge me anything so I'm not complaining. The FBO was nice. There's a guy working inside that asked if I needed anything. They kept my Bonanza parked right out front. No complaints.

Okay, so they're not a very sophisticated FBO... But they're nice people with fuel prices about 80 cents a gallon less expensive than Sanford for the same gas. No ramp fees either.
Response from David Yocum, DeLand Jet Center Thanks for your comments but we do charge a ramp fee. If you buy fuel from the Self-serve or Full-serve we waive one-day ramp fee.

Can't say enough to praise this FBO. July 21, got diverted to Deland due to weather - couldn't get to Sanford. Weather lasted so long we ended up getting a hotel. Anyway, Donna and Kim, together with a gent whose name I don't recall, made us feel like royalty. Donna stayed LONG past closing time while we tried to arrange rental cars, taxis and finally a hotel. She drove us to the hotel in her own car in her own time. They offered us everything they could. Marvelous. They made a frustrating overnight diversion a pleasure. Next morning we re-fueled there and truck was at the plane in moments. Top-notch outfit!

"Guaranteed" doesn't mean guaranteed. AirNav says $3.29; I paid $3.50 just a couple hours ago. It's just a matter of time before they have another accident there. While I was fueling my plane I watched 8 skydivers descend into the pattern with 5 planes. When I went to leave I announced my intentions, pulled onto the runway and started my takeoff roll. About 100 feet into my takeoff roll the skydive plane pulled onto the runway from the intersection in front of me and took off -- no radio call or anything! I won't be back -- too busy with too much mixed traffic to be safe.
