The Elkins Remote Airport Advisory is remoted from the Flight Service Washington Hub in Ashburn, VA. The voice you hear on the radio is over 100 miles away.

Fuel was $4.10/gal not the 3.80 on AirNav. Sunday at 10AM no one in sight, self-service fuel worked OK. Should have gone to W22.

Airport sits in a valley so be careful going in or out at night. Nobody there. Girl gave us an airport advisory but she was nowhere to be seen when we landed. Self serve fuel, which is about all we needed.

Stopped in for fuel. Prices are very good and they actually were willing to wait past work hours a little to keep the facilities open for my family to use upon arrival. Beautiful setting in the mountains. Highly recommend stopping by!

Waited out thunderstorms here on the way to OSH. Chatted with Dick Cheney -- a great guy and really knowledgeable about the local history (which is pretty interesting). Terminal had scheduled service back in the day but now is a little sleepier. Pilot's lounge is not glitzy but is very comfortable.

Stopped in 10/21. Beautiful valley setting- watch out for deer on field! 1970's era terminal building was vacant and unattended save for one vending machine and pilot resource room with PC. Little traffic on a CAVU Sunday- a few locals doing touch and goes and fueling planes. About a mile to restaurants, shorter if you go via gate at approach end of 32.

I flew in on a Saturday with an Angel Flight. There was no one anywhere. The place was a mess. No place to check weather or even sit down. Self-serve fuel would not give a receipt. Some guy came by in a pick up truck and picked up a few chocks laying on the ramp. Never asked what I wanted, whom I was if he could help or anything. Just got in and drove off when it was obvious I was someone not based there. It was not poor service. Wouldn't even qualify as that. It was NO SERVIVCE at all. Place was deserted. I will check that off as a place to hand off Angel Flight patients.

Stopped for fuel en route from NY to Alabama. $3.20 gal vs. $4.60 at Birmingham. Ron helped me fuel and lent us his car to get lunch, assumed he worked there, but just a local friendly pilot. Thanks, beautiful scenery too.

Self-serve fuel still $3.20/gal. Nice, quiet, scenic airport with helpful staff.
