This is the only airport I've ever had to pay an overnight charge at while still buying 67 gallons of fuel. The line guys were great. The girls behind the counter were great. But the fuel prices and fees are ridiculous. How can there be a monopoly on this airport? They need some competition.

The female controller was very pleasant, suggest calling ahead to get Island City freq, the controller gave it to me because I did not know where to park. Ramp was busy on Sunday. Island City had me stop in front of there building where we got out, went inside and filled out a ticket. Name, address, amount of fuel needed. A cab was waiting. We went into town and had lunch and walked around a little. (Cab ride is not cheap) returned to the airport about 4 hours later, gave them my tail #, paid for fuel (was not charged any other fee) my plane was parked and tied down 200' outside the building, had the pleasure of the same female tower controller, departed. Very nice airport staff.

Wife and I flew in June 27 for a quick overnight. Before we could reach the FBO, the cab was ready and waiting. Line guy assured me that my plane would not be buried since I was there only one night. On departure, it was waiting right on the front line for me. Sure it’s an expensive place to land, but so is everything else on this island. N6637D Beech Sierra,

Flew in both Thursday and again Friday. Great service, terrific attitudes. Woman in the tower seems to really enjoy her job too. Kudos to all the professionals at Key West.

Flew in on Saturday. Went inside to register. First statement out of desk clerk's mouth was 40 dollars ramp fee. Very poor customer service. Then me and passengers went to leave on Sunday. Aircraft was not on ramp. Asked lineman, and provided him with tail #. He came back towing wrong airplane. My passengers were sweltering on the pavement. Finally located my airplane after 45 minutes of confusion. They had parked it on other end of field and forgot it was there (my new Baron). This place suks. Big FBO prices, with Gomer Pile Service. Competition would do these folks GOOD!

My family and I stayed April 1st-4th. Very convenient and wonderful service for us "small" guys. Our first time into KEYW and had a great sightseeing flight down the Keys. Overnight fees are half off with fuel purchase. As soon as we landed, we unloaded, and Island City had a cab waiting for us. Upon departure, the plane was fueled as requested, secured properly, and ready to go. A painless and quick process helped make our vacation wonderful. We can't wait to go back.

Flew in for a day trip: Bought less than 20 gallons of gas was only charged for the gas no other fees. Everyone from the lineman to the people behind the desk was friendly and efficient on a very busy weekend where just about every parking spot was taken. Only place I have seen more SR22s is Duluth, guess they all came south for the winter.

So So CSR service. The linemen though were prompt, helpful, but get the chocks yourself and no GPU. No Internet, no WSI, just a phone. But it’s the only game in town.

Went to Key West with the GF for the weekend. Everything about Island City FBO was top notch except for the woman working behind the counter. The communication breakdown I had with her is too long to write about. Is it really that hard to find good help in Key West? The line guys and the system at Island City were fantastic. The woman behind the counter was not.

Had an excellent experience in June 2007. The staff was friendly, professional, and courteous. Volunteered to call for a shuttle to the hotel, offered to help with baggage, and had the plane ready when we asked for it. Surprisingly helpful despite being the only FBO on the field.

Stopped in for 4 days back in March. While fuel was a bit high, the service was professional. Met at the plane promptly. They brought me a cart to carry all of my daughter's "necessary" baggage. The counter people were friendly and courteous. Too busy a place for self-service pumps I imagine, but that would be welcome.

Flew in 4/22/07 and stayed until 04/28/07. I was supposed to leave on the 27th; but, due to weather between the Keys and my home airport, I chose to stay another day. One phone call to the FBO and they call the rental car company to let them know. Great line service and customer service.

3/31/06. Flew into Key West today and the ramp service was fantastic. These guys handle large and small with the same professional approach. Great airport, although busy, but you get a great feeling as if flying to a Caribbean Island airport. Flying there beats driving any day, so plan to fly there and save yourself at least 3 hours versus driving. The restaurant wasn't bad, but you can definitely find better in town.

If you want to meet Peter Sellers, fly into Key West and park at Island Air. A very nice lineman met us and as soon as we had unloaded the aircraft, he was attending to it. Peter had pre-arranged to have our Enterprise rental car at the airport and we spent no more than 15 minutes getting out of the airport after arrival. Nice people and very efficient. This is the second time we have been there in three years and the staff at the airport made it a pleasant destination to fly in too.

I LANDED at KEYW yesterday 01/05/07 early afternoon, the scenery was amazing flying there in C-172SP and the FBO was very organized an friendly laid back services were even better. My home base like Boca Raton Usually try to rush me off an always have preferences of jets over piston. I may not be your biggest customer but KEYW was way different they treat every Piston aircraft as if it was a Gulfstream 550!!!.. Great SERVICES!!!!!!!

A twin was starting up so I got his spot right in front of the FBO. Good ropes and helpful linemen. Checked in with the front desk, friendly folks. Came in Sat morning and left Monday morning so I was wondering if they would charge for 3 days, 2 nights... Total charge was $43 (2 nites 2 days + tax?) so I was happy. Taxi to old town was $18 (with tip), what a rip off for a 4-mile drive. The Blue bus is $1 so take the bus!

I would agree with the previous comment - can't understand why anyone would have a negative comment about this FBO. Line personnel parked us right out front, and even went to get us a cart for the luggage. Airplane was moved to a convenient parking spot. Front desk staff was helpful and courteous. We were made to feel welcome from the time we shut down to the time we left. Outstanding experience.

I am very surprised to see any negative comment on this site about Island City. I have been flying to Key West for over 20 years and have constantly had an awesome experience with Island City. The line crew is extremely helpful. Alesia and Ruth inside are exceptionally accommodating in assisting me with transportation to and from the airport, making sure that my plane is ready, fueled, and waiting when I return for departure, and are very pleasant. Island City is not your large FBO with the water fountains flowing in their lobby, that charge you $20 to just drop someone off. (Showalter Flying Services in Orlando) Island City is on a small island that is located many miles from the mainland with space and location restrictions. Even with all these confines Island City is still comparable with many larger airport prices and service. I enjoy flying to Key West and trust my aircraft with Island City while I am visiting. Thank you Island City for your many years of great service.

Service for my 2-night stay was much better this visit - when the lineman heard I was a short-term stay, he parked me near the FBO rather than towing me to the hinterlands, which was very helpful. Desk personnel were also cheery and helpful this time, and you just can't beat the weather!

Arrived June 28. The line crew was very helpful. Space is at a minimum so be prepared to park yourself if you don't want towing. Office crew is inconsistent about the tie down fee as reflected in previous posts. $30 for three-day/three night stay with 20-gallon purchase. Rental cars are right next-door in the terminal.

Flew in on 24 June 2006. All of the bad information I read here about Island City was true. We pushed our own airplane into a parking spot and left it. Tried to talk to someone at the desk and was ignored. We looked up the cab ourselves with a phone book. No help from anyone. The guy that owns the FBO was there also. Seemed to have his nose in the air and didn't help with anything either. This experience has left my crew and I wondering just how a business like this continues to operate. It's a shame that you spend over $5 a gallon for fuel and then more money for a tie down, and there's no better service. Don't go to Key West thinking that you'll get great service from Island City Flying Service because it's simply a joke. We asked them if there was a helicopter service on the airport and they said "no." Went right across the parking lot to the helicopter operator and took one hell of an island tour. Best part of the trip.

Arrived VFR June 20 along Florida's west coast, great tower service to left base entry to 09. Prompt and professional lineman guided me to park right in front of door, where Columbia 400 stayed for 3 days. Departed VFR June 23 to west to over fly Dry Tortugas, helpful tower advisory on VFR in ADIZ. Fuel was $5.05.... Everything else in Key West costs much more, too. Great experience all around, despite seeing a lot of negative posts that built my apprehension.

HOT TIP! Order a rental car. Cab is $7.50 per person. That's $60.00 for four people plus tip. Plus it's fun to drive the island. Bagatelle on Duval St. has great food. Order the Walnut Gorgonzola Raspberry Salad. Make sure you tell the line guys to keep it close. Otherwise you may have to hike a mile. Try to position for an extended right base for 9. They will usually let you. This will bring you right over the cruise ships and downtown area. Key West is like flying to the islands without leaving the US. Enjoy!

Service was good and the people behind the desk were friendly. 100LL was $5+ per gallon including the taxes. There's a $20 fee for overnight parking, which is cut in half for a "minimum" fuel purchase. I agree the tower people are great and overall the visit to Key West was a great time. Weather was VFR and the breeze kept the temps tolerable. You might as well go see it now because it isn't ever going to get any cheaper.

Flew in with three friends in 172, called them a week before and they assured me that I don't need to contact them until we land. Called them when we got to KEYW and asked where they wanted us to park and never got a reply so just left the plane in front of the FBO. No marshals or signs anywhere... They towed it all the way out who knows where, but did give us a ride when we came back. Fuel is pretty steep, also didn't seem to pay much attention to us when we stepped inside either.

Landed our Piper Seneca (TG-TAI) at KEYW to clear customs and immigration, and taxied to Island City for food and potty breaks. As the only FBO on the field, ICFS clearly shows that more competition would be good for the service level: we were there for about a half-hour, and the two young people behind the desk in the office never even bothered to say hello. On the plus side, however, the ramp crew were very helpful and nice (even plugging in external power to my airplane for a few minutes to help diagnose a starter problem), and since we were there for less than an hour there were no charges at all. The highlight of our visit was the Tower/Ground controllers, who were among the friendliest and most professional people I've met in months.

Approach control was responsive and helpful moving us along our VFR approach into KEYW from the Big Pine Key checkpoint. Tower moved us efficiently onto final. Lineman was patient as we unloaded our luggage and offered help if needed. Girls at the desk were friendly and handled paperwork quickly; asked if we needed a cab, and called one for us that arrived in less than 5 minutes. We found flying into Key West far more enjoyable than driving (especially with the traffic this time of year – the taxi ride to the hotel was more exciting than the 20 kt cross wind landing in the 152), and the tie down cost is about the same as parking fees ($20 vs $19 for parking at the Hotel). We had a great time and look forward to our next visit to the capitol of the Conch Republic!

Despite filing for an IFR route over the keys, was vectored at 1500'agl/msl over the water to avoid the very busy Boca Chica NAS airspace. No crew car available, taxi into town for four was $30. One night tie down fee of $20 was waved with minimum purchase of 10 Gallons of fuel. Busy, chaotic airport, but you have to go there at least once!

Flew in from NC for my Honeymoon on the island. The HSI on my Seneca II went belly up about first 1/3 of the trip. Had to cross over the water from Ft. Myers with just my compass and GPS at night with 2,500 ft clouds. Tower very helpful and friendly getting me in at this very busy airport. Line crew was there to direct me and park my plane. Offered to help with baggage and gave me directions to rental car stand in terminal and how to get into the gate to pick up baggage. The best part was their help getting my HSI replaced the next day. They directed me to George Shetzley at EYW Avionics Inc. in the hanger next door. George was busy with a backlog of other work and trying to recover from Hurricane Wilma damage but when I explained that I was probably going to have to fly out IFR he worked me in. We decided to extend our stay one extra day since George had replaced the HSI and I could fly out IFR. Thanks again George.

Landed 01/28/06 for a short afternoon stay in a C172. Tower helpful in directing us to FBO. FBO ramp was extremely crowded and received no answer on Unicom. After a minute of slow taxiing looking for open spaces, lineman began waving us in. Parked on taxi centerline in front of FBO office behind another newly arrived aircraft where we unloaded. Lineman towed our aircraft to West parking ramp. We received no fee charges with a top off. They provided a van for transport out to the aircraft when we returned. Busy but done professionally and personably. Would have stopped at MTH for fuel if time had not been a factor.

Our visit to KW FBO and the beautiful island of KW was exceptional. The service of the FBO was delightful. We found everyone to perform in a professional manner and the desk ladies were very helpful in finding us accommodations, taxi ride to hotel. The line crew especially Ely was so attentive. The cab service in KW is great but like any other island a little pricey and is to be expected. However they did give us great recommendations for dinner and other entertainment. Thank you ICFS for your great service!
