Been to FES a few times, still has the cheapest fuel around the Saint Louis area. I never see anyone.

I drove in from out of state and flew at Festus the other weekend and wasn't (and never have been) charged anything other than the posted fees. The list of current fees (which incidentally has been posted inside the terminal since June 2005) has been reprinted and posted on both the airside entrance and landside entrance doors at eye level to be more conspicuous to the customers. These same fees are also listed in the AOPA directory. I did a quick Internet search and found the same fees listed in a mid-1990s directory, which I believe is the same era that the airport was managed by the previous individual's father. Still one of the friendliest places I've been to fly to/from.

Just a heads up notice on the very surprising charges levied on me by this Operation. Stopped in for personal business, and just a note I have access to a T'Hangar through my relatives at this airport, also a hangar at another Missouri airport. Arrived at the Festus Airport at 4:30 pm local and everyone had gone home so I had parked my Baron 58 on the public ramp space using my own personal aircraft chocks. I went to depart the next morning early at 7:30 am and found a bill taped to the aircraft cabin door for $10.00 parking fee. The previous month I had spent over $1, 000.00 in fuel at this airport. I left the same aircraft on the public ramp several times before in the previous weeks and never had this treatment. So be aware this charge is not posted and keep your hand on your wallet because they will definitely try to invent a way to get in it. I am not sure if this is because I own a twin-engine aircraft and maybe they think twin drivers have money?

Nice airport. Good alternative to St. Louis on cross-country. Automated 24-hour fuel. Motel is about a two-mile walk. But Manager said he would have given me a ride if I had called him after hours. Can't ask for better service then that!

Dropped into FES for a fuel stop. Very helpful. Nice looking countryside right on the banks of the Mississippi.

Made a stop there on return to Texas from Oshkosh. Good fuel price and excellent friendly service. Very friendly folks at a very neat runway that is good for anyone who can handle a good 2000 foot paved runway.
