I would like to strongly commend Volo Aviation for its assistance in helping take care of my aircraft after an emergency landing resulting from a severe bird strike near Port St. Lucie Airport. After landing, I was taken by ambulance to a hospital in Ft. Pierce, leaving the plane with a HUGE hole in the windshield sitting in the open. The tower called Volo Aviation and requested that they secure the aircraft. Chris, the General Manager, arranged to have the windshield hole covered and the plane towed to a part of the ramp that was under cover. I returned to the airport a few days later to clean up and arrange for repairs to the aircraft. I stopped off at Volo to pay for the services. Chris refused to accept payment. This gesture of goodwill was the icing on the cake of good service.

This is still a good return spot from the Bahamas. They still have the friendly staff, and the restaurant, rental gear, etc. What they don't have is good fuel prices. The fact is it makes more sense to just top off in the Bahamas, because the fuel there is about the same as the self serve here. In addition, the self-serve pumps here are hard to get to, and if you fuel in the Bahamas, you get full serve. Also, other airports are starting to make more sense as clearing spots. Too bad, because the people are very nice.

We rented a life raft and life jackets from them, was a great transaction, and fortunately we didn't have to use them! =) Never, I repeat, NEVER, stay at the Days Inn Midtown Ft. Pierce on 3224 S Us Highway 1. It is managed by the rudest person I have ever met--one of the worst experiences I've ever had with someone in customer service. It is far from the airport as well.

Stopped at Volo on a trip to Stuart to avoid the costs at KSUA. This is the second time I have done this. The service is good, but the cost advantage has diminished under the new owner. $5.70 for fuel (about $.80 lower than at Stuart) and $35 plus tax for four nights parking.

Great line service but not worth $5.70/gal for 100LL

FP Jet Center was just bought out and the first thing the new owners did was raise the fuel price $1.00 per gallon.

Stopped in FPR for a fill up on the way to the Bahamas. The staff was very helpful. Line guys were "Johnny on the spot". They had everything I needed to make a safe flight to Marsh Harbour. On the return, the customs was very efficient and friendly. I'll be back. The food at Tiki was surprisingly great also.

The staff continues to do a great job but I was a little shocked to pay 5.80 a gallon for avgas when the price in Treasure Cay was 5.40 a gallon. FPR used to be known for having the best prices for full serve in the state. Apparently, no longer.

I have always learned in aviation that there are two sides to every story. Looking at comments here, I can disagree with some recent ones. We had nothing but the best service and the staff does a great job under busy circumstances...When we came through, there were 17 aircraft in Customs. And they managed all of them with ease. We will be back. New ownership, same faces.

I have a Customs overflight exemption and normally clear at PNS, but had to stop at Fort Pierce Jet on 25 June because fuel was temporarily unavailable at Treasure Cay. Although the lineman did his best, he was the only one working and couldn't begin to handle the demand. When I asked if someone was out sick he told me he was the only one scheduled to work. What should have been a quick turn (our airplane wasn't moved off the Custom's ramp) took almost an hour. I understand the FBO is under new ownership, which may explain why service at the Tiki wasn't up to what I've experienced in past years. In contrast, the tower and ground controllers and the officer in Customs were extremely pleasant, and could not have been more helpful.

When flying from California to Florida, we always stop into the Jet Center as they have very nice facilities and helpful staff. The Airport Tiki restaurant is also great place to eat :-) Should you need to overnight, I HIGHLY recommend the nearby Royal Inn, (772) 464-0405, as the owners Joyce and Sandy ensure you feel like you are staying at a Bed & Breakfast rather than a hotel!

Was there on May 16th to buy some approach plates, and the gal at the desk had no clue, and she was rude to top it all off. Maybe they should treat their customers better, even if we are only there for 20 dollars worth.

Stopped by both going to and returning from the Bahamas. The restaurant food was average. The service was great. I got help with my paperwork outbound. Returning, these guys literally bring the cart up to your plane when you stop in at customs. Clearing customs was also very easy (took about 3 minutes once we got our luggage wheeled through the door). If you park on the side of the ramp next to the taxiway at customs, they will even fuel your plane on the customs ramp. They were loading the fuel truck with gas when I got done with customs, so I just taxied across the field to the self-serve and headed on my way. Highly recommend these guys for return trips from the Bahamas if you heading North. It is worth paying the extra money to leverage their assistance if you are passing through customs.

Tried Fort Pierce on a recent trip to Stuart to avoid high prices at KSUA. Tie down was $5 versus $10 at KSUA; fuel was about $1.25 a gallon cheaper. Facility not as fancy as Stuart, but adequate. Not as convenient as SUA for my purposes, but I would go there again.

I usually believe in the philosophy that if you don't have something nice to say than you should keep it to yourself but I have to say that these folks could not have been less helpful when I needed a jump-start on New Years Eve (12:00 pm/noon). I was willing to pay them anything just to get out of there but because I wasn't parked on their ramp, they refused to help even if I came to them and would not rent me their cables or power cart. Needless to say, that was my new years; I hope the rest of my year gets better.

I will never ever come back to Fort Pierce again! Got there after hours, self serve. No bathrooms or other services that I could find. Was very rudely insulted on the radio by some punks in a Dutchess doing training there. Went to a lit hangar to ask workers if I could use there bathroom. Was told if I don't have an airport badge, then no! and they were going to call the police because I did not have an airport badge. Maybe a great place to visit during business hours, but I would not recommend trying it after hours! 3.50something isn't that hard to beat. Down the road it's cheaper and at least they have bathrooms for the pilots. Will not be back again!

First rate service. We used them going and returning from our first Bahamas trip. They handled everything including hotel, ground transport, and Customs paperwork (both ways) very efficiently and inexpensively. Highly recommend.

Stopped at FPR a couple of weeks ago on the way back from the Bahamas. After a morning spent dealing with extra national offshore air traffic control, it was a blessing to be back with the professionals. (Bahamian ATC lost our IFR flight plan, and we spent a half-hour out over the Atlantic unable to raise anyone at our assigned voice frequencies. It was nice to get home!) Folks at Galaxy were very helpful and welcoming. Tiki restaurant is open while under construction. We're looking forward to a return visit when they're finished — food, prices, menu, and service were all good!

Stopped on our second trip to/from the Bahamas. Experienced a vacuum pump failure on the way in and still had a long way to go. While we were in customs the folks at the Tiki found an open repair shop on the field. They pulled the plane over to Aircraft Turbine Works where they were able to change out the pump in less than an hour. We had lunch and were there for less than 2 hours. I see no reason to stop anywhere else on our way to the Bahamas.

Good service and a great restaurant. Only caution is to be aware of the Vero Beach Class D airspace when you arrive from the North. If you are going to the Bahamas paying the $5 for Jet Center to prepare the paperwork is worth it. Upon returning remember that you have to bring your aircraft registration certificate into the customs building. In short a good port of departure/entry when you are headed to the islands.

My wife and I have made 15 trips to the Bahamas or beyond and used the Ft. Pierce Air Center as our jumping off point for all but the first one. We leave from Colorado in our C210 so generally we arrive after the FBO has closed for the day. Needless to say, after 8+ hours of flying we are frazzeled and ready to head to a hotel and get a bite to eat. During our most recent trip on March 30th we left our fuel stop late and got vectored around resulting in a 7:30PM arrival. We knew we were doomed to waiting for a taxi for a hour and generally accepted that fate until the very cheerful voice of Erica came over the unicom and told us she had our courtesy car waiting with directions to the hotel. WOW!!! It was a Friday night and she could have been hitting the town with her friends but elected to stay and wait for us. She tracked us on the internet because we were IFR and knew what time to expect us. Jodi did the same thing for us last Christmas. Thanks!

Cirrus pilots flew 30+ planes to/from Bahamas from the Airport Tiki at Fort Pierce Jet Center. Great line service, accommodating raft rental, hosted group dinner, and shuttled a bunch of planes from US Customs when another fly-in showed up unexpectedly Sunday morning. Well done folks, and thanks!

Flew into FPR from Marsh Harbor (MYAM), Bahamas. Fast and friendly service. Loaded our luggage onto a cart and took it to Customs for us and then towed the plane for fueling. Took our baggage back to the aircraft and helped stow it. Had lunch at the Tiki. Fast, convenient, service oriented. Highly recommend these folks despite fuel at $4.19 a gallon.

Arrived on Sunday after Thanksgiving from Nassau along with half the population of the southeastern United States. Service was prompt with a gentleman from the other FBO handling our luggage to customs. Food was good at the Tiki Bar, not gourmet, but it is a lot better than most airports, and reasonable as well. Fuel contract so price was pretty good and service was fine, no complaints.
