Despite our derisory fuel purchase (for a Robinson R44), offered the courtesy car for a ride into town to pick up earrings for the woman waiting patiently back home. Richardson's seems to be the most authentic source for Navajo, Hopi, and other tribal art. The owner is 91 and has been trading in this stuff forever.

Fuel was expensive, but otherwise, the facility and the line staff were very accommodating, providing me transportation to/from the Best Western. The lineman informed me that there are two Best Westerns but only one had Internet service. I went to the Best Western with Internet service. Traveled the week of 6/11/09

Landed and fueled at Gallup twice within a week's time on a recent cross-country trip..... Excellent service. Fuel truck/line men were ready and waiting for me to taxi in both times. Checked the oil, washed the windows, offered a courtesy car before knowing I was only on a fuel stop. Next time I make the AZ to CO trip, Gallup will be my refueling choice for sure!!

Excellent service, arrived late night was greeted by Melina and Noel (they are open 24 hrs), they found us a room in the nearby West Western (the one to the west of the airport) and Noel gave us a lift to the Hotel. We wanted to leave at first light the next morning and they offered to pick us up at the hotel, I said at 5:45 am? And they said "no problem". Next morning the plane was ready and topped off, got a fresh set of charts and Sandy and Tim who also were very helpful and courteous sent us on our way. Recommend A+

GUP is an excellent facility in every way including a very tasteful Terminal/FBO building. Ramp personnel were super-helpful on a May 30 visit, including marshalling. Unfortunately the courtesy car was "out" and the only restaurant within walking distance was McDonald's.

Gas price is high (5 cent cash discount) compared to like airports and a $5 tie down (not waived). But this was our destination and service is great. Rental car very nice and decent price. Helpful and friendly coming and going.

I was in town for some construction work for about a month and was interested in updating my night flying as I haven't flown at night within the last 90 days and wanted to get current. All anyone could tell me was their instructors get off work at 5 pm. I responded, "that due to that no one can get any night training there and must go elsewhere?" OK then, "do you have any aircraft for rent as I am a licensed private pilot?" The response was we like to rent our aircraft to only local people. I found that odd as the plane was sitting still and empty on the ramp. Then everyone just walked away from me leaving me standing there. Seems they didn't want to help me there since I wasn't buying fuel at their elevated rate. Stay clear of the Gallup FBO. Bad experience!!!!!!!!

Unfortunately I had no choice as a winter storm caused me to divert to GUP. They price gouge you because they are the only game around. St. Johns, Page and Mid Valley are all at least a dollar cheaper than GUP. When the owner heard some other pilots and me talking about how pricey they are, he exploded. He claimed that ABQ or PHX was as high as he was. I told him it's ludicrous to compare Class Bravo airspace to Gallup, NM. Instead he should compare what his peers are charging. At that he stormed off. It has always been a rip-off because they look to take advantage of pilots who must get fuel in a remote area. Remember that mechanic in Family Vacation? That scene accurately reflects GUP. I will do my best to refuel ANYWHERE else in the future. GUP skinned me for the last time.

Excellent service and friendly people. If you are lucky you can also meet the two four legged staff members (K9) in the office. We look forward to our return. Thanks!

GUP is the place where you want to stop, by choice. The scenery is phenomenal and the folks are sincere and friendly. Ask nicely for the courtesy car and enjoy the best sub-shop deli anywhere, or top-notch Mexican (...Food, I mean- not an actual Mexican), right down the street. The assortment and variety of transient traffic is unlike any "big city" airport FBO, and you never know whom you'll see in the FBO/terminal. Right on storied route 66, this visit into aviation's past is always worth the stop.

Why'd I stop here? Oh yeah, I was tired of getting my ass kicked for the last 200 nm in mod turb. The folks were so nice I really wanted to buy something from them. But the 100LL price was to the moon and they didn't have any charts I needed. The girls behind the counter to the EMS pilots---super nice folks. Evidently they also are the FedEx station, they run a thriving business. Sure I'd come back. Watch that lil ol hill on short final to rwy 6. And be sure to plan your departure no matter which way you depart. Check DA.

This place is outstanding. Excellent service from the linemen; also you have to meet "Jack, " the driver -- he flew AT6's, B 17s, Beech 18s, everything in between -- he's now the driver if you need a ride (or a great flying story from a real gentleman aviator).

Fast friendly service. Good stop for quick turnaround. Restaurants close by. A little high on fuel price. Very good overall.

From Jeff Sullivan on 15-Apr-2007
Fantastic service. Line service outstanding. They have a courtesy car available for an hour (which will get you anywhere in Gallup). Lineman suggested Los Sombreros, so went for breakfast. A good indication is a full parking lot with locals - and that was good food. If you are looking for that $100 hamburger destination (or $100 burrito), make KGUP your stop.

Just wanted to keep the comments up to date. Landed and fueled today with these folks and as others have said, they're a good crew. I had a sick passenger and they did everything to help. Nice pilot lounge with computer access.
