I flew into MSS on May 23, 2009, and the airport officials couldn't have been friendlier. 100LL had recently been reduced to $3.40, and there were no tie-down or landing fees. There were, however, no computers on which, to do a last minute weather check or pilots lounge to relax in.

Flew into MSS on 2-24 and tied down overnight. Had called ahead to clarify parking, etc. And they were very courteous. Upon landing 2 men from the Town drove right up and helped us tie down for the night and made sure we had access codes, etc. That we needed. Used CM Ford of Massena for rental car and they were great to deal with. The pilot lounge was clean and well equipped. Great little airport with friendly staff and highly recommend CM Ford for rental car needs.

Beautiful terminal, but no one was there on the Friday afternoon that I was there. As I was getting ready to leave, one of the line crew that was cutting grass showed up. Very nice, and very helpful.

As the final stop before crossing the US Border en route from San Diego to Montreal, I needed something a bit more "connected". The dialup connection on the computer wouldn't work..But I was able with my cell phone to make the customs and flight planning for the crossing. It was like being transported back to the 60s.But nice field, nice fella that works the field, and certainly a shelter and bathroom. I think I've become spoiled by the trappings of civilization, and forget that there's places in the country where nice runways and good fuel pumps are all you really need.

I think the below comment about the FBO at the hangar is a bit harsh. It was open after hours, had a bathroom and water and a phone and posted numbers for taxis and car rentals. That's a pretty good port in a storm; especially with the 24-hour self-serve at what these days is a reasonable price. Customs here was friendly and efficient, too.
