Getting into Sheppard was much easier than I anticipated, leave the VOR 075 and don't over fly military taxiways or runways. FBO staff was great but I was a touch surprised by the $30 "handling charge", whatever that was for.

I visit SPS several times per year and always receive outstanding service. The line staff are eager to help and courteous. Gibby the manager always takes time to make sure everything is to our satisfaction and Julie is extremely helpful with administrative details. For 1st time visitors to SPS, there is a lot of military jet training traffic, so there are specific procedures for getting in and out of SPS during the week. You can contact the 80 FTW Safety Officer at (940) 676-5000, for details.

Landmark was Great! I visited about 3 weeks ago on a direct flight from DTO to SPS and was not familiar with the VFR landing Procedures which due take an extra 15 minutes but completely understandable because of the high military aircraft volume. The controller was great and very helpful when he knew we were unfamiliar. We stopped at Landmark for only 5 minutes to use the bathroom facility and left. The line techs were great and they had an open door for the facilities. Not even a week later I returned in a diamond 40 and used the Crew Car (New Nissan SUV) great vehicle. Everyone was very helpful and courteous. I recommended this FBO to anyone flying in the area great people and interesting sites. Not only did we get to see awesome T 38's but also met an Oklahoma Celebrity!

Well, gas was high...They have the monopoly there. Tied down for 10 nights. They waived three of the nights for buying fuel. Line guys were great and helped greatly. Ask for Victor. Nice facilities as well...Popcorn, wireless, the normal stuff. Too bad they could pull my aircraft into that big empty hangar when it frosted and gusted to 40mph. By the way, be careful of the kid controllers they got working there.... Lots of fast jets with new students soloing in them..Crazy. Do yourself a favor and go on Saturday or Sunday when they aren't flying.

Landmark is an ok FBO, The staff is well intended and tries to please. Inbound to KSPS on an IFR Flight Plan in a Citation Jet I got all frazzled on the visual approach into KSPS Sheppard Air Force Base/ Wichita Falls today... This is where they train military controllers.. These controllers had me so screwed up, I had no clue what I was doing and neither did they, plus I and to go around once, overall with the go around and vectoring it took me over 30 minutes to land.. The FBO said this is typical and most people don't come back for a second visit..

We hangared our airplane at Landmark for several months. The service was always excellent. The facilities are simple but nice and line service polite and prompt. The manager (Erika) runs a tight ship.

Excellent service and facilities at Landmark helped our attitude after a wrong-way diversion and overnight stop due to weather. Pete was very helpful getting us a motel and ride to and from it. Fuel is not cheap, but service and attitude are excellent. Ft. Worth Center controllers were extremely helpful and engaged in helping us and others work around a nasty weather situation. It's worth the stop to see all the fighter jet training activity!

Stopped overnight for visit to Wichita Falls. Staff was outside ready to wave me to parking. Nice lounge, WX, charts. Aircraft ready next morning as requested with tanks topped off. Only negative was they didn't offer to wave a hangar charge of $25 even though I purchased over $200 in fuel.

Landmark has a new manager who is making some very positive changes... Like cleaning up the facility (slowly but surely) and making sure aircrew's are taken care of. Fuel is on the high side but the service is outstanding! Just ask and if it's in their power to provide they will. As for Sheppard approach if you are coming in from the South or West head for Kickapoo Airport and descend to 2300' and ask them for either direct to downwind for 17 or direct to final on 35... If they can they will clear you.

Flew into Sheppard AFB today in a Piper Seneca 4. Was greeted by the FBO manager on the flight line. The staff was very friendly and the "klunker" no longer exists there. They now have a nice Nissan Xtera. Will use their facility on future trips.
