This comment is about the airport in addition to Rabbit Aviation. When I need it, I call Dan and order fuel. I received incredibly prompt & courteous service this morning. Can't say enough good about their service. The airport is staffed by the friendliest people you'll ever meet. They're helpful, ready to offer assistance, and they treat you like family. Gretchen, Chris, Danny, Meena and the rest of the airport staff are just the greatest. There's no FBO here, but the courtesy of the airport staff and adequate terminal building make up for it.

Pilots should know at SQL nobody can self-fuel and to expect otherwise means someone didn't take adequate preflight action. I have seen Rabbit fuel just about everything from a 152 to a Sky Crane and they do it quite well. Out of two airplanes and two helicopters we run, Rabbit can fuel them all when we pass through San Carlos and I'll never want to touch a hose especially at their prices. If you feel the need for speed, call inbound on 130.0 and have them ready for a quick turn when you land. They can even have line staff guide you to your parking spot if you need help. I have been to dozens of FBO's and had all kinds of service and until some guy starts serving tacos and margaritas with my fuel order Rabbit will remain the best yet.

San Mateo Airport Authority/Rabbit Aviation refused to allow me to climb and fuel my own amphib Cessna from the proper fueling steps, like I always do, so I had to depart and land at Palo Alto and fuel there, before flying on back to Nevada. Due to some local rules, amphib pilots are not allowed to fuel their planes here. In twenty states and two provinces, over about a thousand hours, this is the first time this has happened. I always fuel this plane. In fact, at several FBO's, they insist on NOT having their line staff fuel that twelve foot high wing. Until they reconsiders this unique policy, high wing amphib operators may want to use alternate airports.

Now THIS is FULL SERVE fueling. Knowledgeable, friendly staff will get you filled and on your way. Yes they're quick even when it's busy but don't wait till the last minute - call for fuel when you LAND. And it's 130.0 on the radio not UNICOM. They have a great base station so you can call from 30 miles out or more and easily get them.

I have nothing for praise for Rabbit Aviation Services (KSQL), which is the fuel service at KSQL. Over the years I've flown into San Carlos 25 times from my home base outside Boulder, CO. They are always responsive and are committed to great customer service. I landed Rockwell 690B there on a Friday and when I was ready to depart on Sunday I had a aircraft problem. The owner of Rabbit Dan DeMeo could not have been more accommodating. He towed my plane to where I could work on it, and gave me full access to his personal tools. I strongly recommend them--they consistent strive to help their customers, and their fuel prices are very fair.

Here is a friendly alternative to KPAO. Rabbit Air offers reasonable fuel prices and good service. There is that rarity nearby, a small aviation shop that still carries FAA charts, and the greasy spoon isn't half bad. The transient parking and the rest are located on the east side of the airport. Still, for an out-of towner this is your easiest fly-in to San Francisco proper; just take Uber to the San Carlos CalTrain or Millbrae BART station (check operating hours beforehand, of course).

Service was excellent and fuel rates competitive. However the lineman said that he couldn't fill up my 5-gallon gas tank because it was plastic. I found this confusing because it is an approved gas can with a California nozzle. Never ran into this issue anywhere.

From Brian Franklin on 17-Mar-2016

Rabbit Aviation provides a scope and level of service that makes other fuel services/FBOs at nearby airports pale in comparison. Recently I experienced a mechanical issue at SQL, which is not our airplane's home base. I called Dan, Rabbit's owner, to ask him if he had any recommendations on maintenance providers. Dan used his connections on the field to have an A&P looking at the airplane within 5 minutes of the time I called him. He then towed our airplane to one of his own spots until the shop was able to perform a full diagnosis in their own hangar. Anecdotes like this embody the Rabbit experience. They provide fast and competitively priced fuel, but also a full FBO experience with highly trained and knowledgeable personnel. I will always go out of my way to fuel or get detailed at Rabbit.

Been to this airport a number of times. Rabbit is top notch. Flew my Skymaster in for Super Bowl weekend, and they have not raised their rates like I saw on the news other airports were doing this weekend. Reward this FBO with your business, they will not disappoint!
