The self-serve pumps worked well and were convenient to the ramp area. This is an old WWII airport and some of the old runways are in very poor shape so beware of where you turn. The main taxiways are fine. The FBO's hours are short and they close at 3pm sharp on Sundays. If you arrive after that you'll be toting your own bags across a very big ramp as most of the closer tiedowns are taken and the closest are reserved for short transients. I suggest you drop off your luggage at the walk through gate prior to tying down, as you won't be able to get through the drive through gate. The per day tiedown fee is listed on their website and was $10 per day for me. They cut it off at $60, which is the monthly tiedown fee. Tiedown ropes were provided at each of the spots and there were chocks available if you look for them.

Check your NOTAMs! The rumored control tower is now a reality. It didn't make it into the 22 OCT 2009 chart update. The folks at Flagler County are polite and helpful. I've been operating in and out mostly after hours, so most of my exchanges have been over the telephone. Not much to add, but I thought I'd comment about the tower opening.

My wife and I and our five-year-old grandson flew in on Wednesday, April 29, 2009. I had not been there in several months. I was amazed when not one but two golf carts with FBO staff as drivers pulled up in front of my A/C. They insisted on helping us unload our considerable baggage, and then drove us to the front of the FBO office. They also delivered the bags to the Enterprise car rental office next door. Amazing, professional and really appreciated. Quite a change from previous visits. Jim Barta Owner, Barbara Jean's Restaurants

Nice airport, Had a bite to eat at Hijackers. Great food, unique FBO recommend stopping in. Be careful, traffic pattern can be congested.

Great airfield, pavement in decent condition. The rumored control tower would be a nice addition! Student traffic has generally been friendly and cooperative, giving way to larger aircraft on instrument approaches. The restaurant, HiJackers, is delicious. Great food, great waitresses, great live music, lots of seating, great view of the airfield, etc. Making another trip to this establishment tonight for dinner! Highly recommended.

Very nice airport, but also used heavily for training by nearby flight schools. Last time there were 10 airplanes in different pattern (29 and 24). Thank god for TCAS. They will get a tower in 2009, so that should take care of it. The FBO is nice and offer prompt and friendly service. Be sure to check out the HighJackers restaurant next door.

Flagler County has gotten really competitive on their fuel prices and the Self Serve pump is much more reliable. There is a great shop on the field (Flagler Aircraft Services ask for Nick) that does a great job with everything I've ever brought him...And he has good prices too. KXFL is a great place to stop and stay.

From Marcus Williams on 12-May-2008
Very nice airport with a great restaurant. Very, very heavy student traffic, which leads to the pattern getting strung out and similar surprises, but they're supposed to be getting a tower in 2009 and the discrete CTAF will help with some of the radio noise. I thought the fuel prices were reasonable, and I wouldn't hesitate to stop there again.

I agree with Hamilton, Don't stop at Flagler County. Their self serve fuel prices are now a full dollar higher then Ormond Beach...And I'm quite sure it comes off the same delivery truck!! Ormond Beach almost has an overlapping traffic pattern so stop in there and save some money. Flagler is a county run FBO so there are absolutely no perks to paying the extra money.

Went for dinner. High Jackers is a wonderful restaurant with decent prices. Plenty of parking right in front of the restaurant. Wonderful for the late night $100 hamburger!

From Hamilton Meeks on 17-Dec-2007
This airport used to be a pretty good deal. However now they have increased their fuel prices beyond what you get for service. Fill up at the Ormond Beach airport. Their prices are much cheaper, they have a tower and they are very close by.

Great little airport, food was great. There is a lot of confusion about this airport. Jepp calles it KXFL but Jax Approach has never heard of it. Official name change is Oct 20th, but Jepp has changed its charts and data bases.

No one answered radio request as to where to park but someone finally came out. The fuel was pricey, very friendly folks and courteous service, super great restaurant but does not open until 11 o’clock.

GREAT airport, decent FBO.

Arrived X47 5pm on a Friday; line service couldn't have been more helpful. Found me a front row space assisted with tie down and shuttled me back and forth to my plane several times. Fuel prices competitive. All very friendly. Car rental at Enterprise could be improved. If you don't get your car back before noon on Saturday you get charged thru Monday. Seems like they should work something out with the FBO.

Flagler Fuel Prices are pretty high and most likely will stay that way. Better off getting your fuel at the numerous other airports nearby that are significantly less expensive

Great restaurant! Terrible FBO. Probably due to the attitude of the young, dark haired guy they have working there. I came in to order jet fuel and he was sprawled out on the sofa, watching, "Every Which Way But Loose". Never looked up to acknowledge that a customer had come into the building. He continued to watch the movie, and didn't avert his gaze from the TV even when I gave him the fuel order. He never thanked me for buying fuel either. I thought about calling his boss, but anyone that hired a guy like that knows exactly what they're getting. Next time I'll take my PC-12 into Daytona Beach and drive over to Bunnell.

Stay away. That's the message I got. I never have written any negative comments about any FBO but I'll break that tradition today. My experience had me feeling that I was trapped in a bad dream or a cheap horror movie. My first hint was a local pilot that kept going "beep" every 10 seconds on the CTAF (and another pilot seemed to recognize him and then began to interact with him). Upon landing, I looked for an FBO and aimed toward the big fuel signs but there was no obvious place to park. A guy that looked like a lineman (turned out he was) stared slackjaw as I rolled onto the ramp and then told me I was on a private ramp and had to move but didn't offer any place to move to (and didn't offer to sell me any fuel). This place was so weird that when I finally found the FBO (which turned out to be the ramp I first stopped at) my wife and I took turns watching the plane while the other went to the restroom. Absolutely the least "user-friendly" place I ever stopped.
