Nice convenient airport if you don't want to use BTR. Cheap fuel. I have never seen an employee there, so I just picked a tie down and parked.

My family & I stopped her overnight due to weather. FBO went overboard to help us. They towed the plane to the self-service fuel pump, tied the plane down and loaned us their courtesy for overnight use to get supper and a hotel. Would highly recommend this airport. Runway is also in great condition.

Flew to L38 from HKS on 2/7/09; flying my Cessna 150L over my childhood country town, Gonzales, was a dream come true. The people at the airport were friendly and the place was very clean. Fuel is self-served at a good price (be careful about using debit card for fuel - a debit of $500.00 against your balance until your actual amount is posted several dates later). Beautiful views of the Mississippi River to the south of the airport.

MO at ASI was very helpful, but we flew in for a visit to Cabelas and took Wayne's taxi. DON'T USE THEM! 5 min ride $40 round trip. Rent a car instead.

Great, convenient alternative to KBTR. Small but top notch FBO with nice deck where you can rest and relax for a while. Self-serve fuel is reasonable and personnel are pro's, willing to help with whatever you need. I like to use this airport for weekend visits to B.R.

I was on the way to Myrtle Beach and stopped in on a Tuesday to visit with a college roommate. I intended to leave on Wednesday morning to go to SC but weather kept me there until Saturday. The guys at Aviation Specialist treated me like royalty. I was about to try and make it out of L38 for SC started up and found my artificial horizon and my DG were inop. Juan and Mark of Aviation Specialist were helping me with correct the problem. Mark crawled under my panel. Juan called to find a part. I was taken to lunch that day. Weather did not allow me to fly to my second destination Orlando until Saturday. The service if top notch. Juan and Mark are not your regular line-guys that are in college or high school. These guys are licensed. The are licesened commercial pilots, flying pipeline program. The FBO knows exactly what customer service is. Go visit these guys! It will be worth it!

This has always been a friendly rural airport - well maintained, courteous staff, friendly pilots, good maintenance technicians, and competent instructors, even an FAA examiner. It's even better now. The ever-present Juan is always eager to help - even with self-service fueling. Other rural airports could learn something from the people at Gonzales.

Stopped at L38 for fuel & a break. Taxied to the pumps & before I could even get out of the airplane, Juan was hooking up the ground wire & offering to fuel me up. Great service, thanks for the drinks & snacks, & thank you Juan for your help. We will be back.

I recently flew in for the second time in a CJ2 and have to say the service both times was outstanding. Both times we were greeted with a lineman. After prompt fueling with reasonably priced Jet A, I was offered a fresh sandwich and snack. All of the employees seemed to go out of their way to make sure my stay was comfortable.

Very clean airport with an accommodating manager (Juan). Easy to use fuel pump with plenty of tie downs. Have clean restrooms with snack machine and weather monitor.

From Randy Perry on 13-Apr-2007
Stopped in for fuel on the way back from Albany, GA where I picked up my new plane. The hospitality was outstanding. I was number two in line for the self-serve pump and the lineman quickly pushed back the first plane after fueling was concluded. The airport manager offered me fresh coffee and a comfortable chair in the small terminal building to relax. The lineman offered to take me into town to get some lunch. Both of them congratulated me on my purchase and asked me to please stop in again. The airport grew in planes based there following the hurricane and improvements are on the horizon. Don't hesitate to stop there. I won't!
