Barrow is great fun, went on an evening tour up the beach, and was able to see a bear, and lots of whale bones. Interesting! Got charged a $50.00 "call out charge" for fueling at mid-day on 8/20 (Thursday). The fuel guy was fueling the plane next to mine, but he had to go and get the AVGAS truck, so I suppose that switch constituted a "call out". The fueler was nice, and even with the call-out charge, their fuel price was less than Canadian fuel prices. No one told me there would be a extra charge, I'm not complaining, but I was surprised when the charge showed up on my bill.

Friendly service was given by Eskimos, Inc. The FSS Specialist was especially helpful in that he made a phone call for the fuel truck, queried other inbound pilots about locations of whale sightings for us, and gave us walking directions to Pepe's North of the Border Mexican Restuarant. The FAA needs to leave the Alaska FSS system alone. They are doing fantastic work!
