Eagle's Nest worked for me. We flew our Cessna R182 here for a wedding in Waynesboro, staying less than half a day. Four guys were hanging out inside the office sitting at a table. Friendly, and just asked if we needed fuel. I didn't. What I really liked is they didn't give the "poor us" attitude that some other FBO's give when you stop in just for a few hours, use no services, don't need their 50%+ marked up fuel, and they retaliate with the "we have a ramp fee." Not Eagle's Nest. Good place. Good people. I will return when in the area again. BTW, the strip is 2, 009 feet, but there are usable displaced grass thresholds on either runway. Didn't need them for my airplane but used some of the grass for takeoff on runway 24 for added cushion.

Stopped at W13 for my brother's graduation from Washington and Lee University in Lexington, about 45 minutes away. FBO facility was well equipped and clean. Fuel was $5.15 as advertised with no tie down fees for 4 nights in the grass. Ropes were provided. Lots of glider activity on Sunday. Great place to stop for visiting the valley. Highly recommended.

I flew my Mooney into W13 instead of CHO when attending a graduation at UVA. What a great choice! This little airport is awesome. The people are friendly, no tie-down charge, rental cars are easily available and the Waynesboro hotels charge about 1/3 of what the CHO hotels charge during graduation. The drive to UVA is about the same as from CHO due to the lack of traffic on I-64 versus what you find on 29N. Can't say enough good about John, who runs the FBO. Thanks!

Flew into Eagle's Nest on 1/28/08. Was looking for a shorter runway to land my Columbia 400. Earlier in my flying life I would fly to Waynesboro for short field practice, so I went back. Did one fly by, then landed. Nice people, great service and look forward to returning. I have also flown sailplanes out of W13, they have a wonderful soaring club.

Flew my Archer II in on a leg of my summer vacation. We were treated great! Friendly FBO. They lent me a headset, helped me park and helped with info about the area. We would stop in again and would love to live at the airpark.

W13 is a small aviation community with some residential properties on the field. Although most flying is done by pilots based there, they are extremely friendly to transients. I did my instrument training there - and they managed to provide intensive training very much on my schedule and were very dedicated. I still like going out there for a coffee and a chat. Highly recommended for a friendly stop or day trip.

Traveled here for an overnight visit for a conference in Staunton. Very nice airport, great service. John arranged my ride to town on arrival, the next day let me use the courtesy car to return to the hotel to fetch the cell phone I'd left there. FBO office is among the most pleasant I've visited - it's like someone lives there and they are expecting guests. It's a great stop, passing through or visiting.
