Used their web site, which was very helpful, to get my security clearance for the FRZ. Ray Isherwood was also helpful in putting together the pieces for me. Flew in and was met by Lloyd, who was very friendly, attentive and helpful. Same goes for Stan Fetter, who helped get me a rental car on a moment's notice. After I had left the field, Stan called me personally to let me know he had gone out and secured my plane because of a thunderstorm. Nice touch. When I returned to fly out, George, who was just as friendly and helpful as the rest, helped me. Overall a very positive experience. Many thanks to the guys there for making me feel right at home.

Flew into Hyde for the first time. The folks at Fetter Aviation helped me thru the vetting process to get my PIN. Everyone was always very helpful. When I arrived, Loyd who was very helpful and directed me into DC greeted me. Was a pleasure going to DC via W32. Was sad to see the effects of the FRZ/ADIZ on the airport. Would highly recommend using W32 if you are going to frequent DC!

I've been flying into W32 in a Cessna 421C for about a year. Arrivals and departures are usually very straight forward with minimal vectoring. Twice there was an inbound clearance mix-up that was resolved while airborne. Be sure to talk to Stan for his excellent advice to avoid problems. Some people may be put off by the dated and worn facilities, but all the important stuff is there (bathroom, phone, internet access, computer weather, and super nice people). There is no waiting for anything as this is a very quiet airport. Rental cars are easily arranged in advance. If you are a regular to the DC area, W32 is by far the easiest field for DC and Alexandria. One warning, the bridge over the Potomac is under construction and can be a bottleneck during rush hours. Google Earth is a good way to check out the field and surrounding areas.

This is a country patch that happens to be 4 miles off the DC Beltway. The folks here are very friendly, and bend over backwards to help you, and the fuel is comparatively affordable. There is a lot of gravel on and around the taxiway, so be careful where you do your run-up. Stan mentioned to me that there is now wireless internet at the terminal as well. The only downside is that the field is open 6a-6p, and prior arrangements must be made to operate after 6p.

Based at Hyde for a couple of years now and have had no trouble complying with any of the security rules discussed below. This airport is crawling its way from the brink of extinction, with steady improvements, even if they are slow in coming. All the reasons that made me move here still hold true today. With the opening to cleared transient traffic, I hope that more pilots will take advantage of this airport, the low fuel prices and the great access to DC. - Cheers, AJ

I recently exercised my rights as a vetted pilot and flew into Hyde Field. I must say that Stan Fetter was as accommodating with my flight in and out of Hyde as he was with assisting me to get my PIN to operate in the FRZ. Note: if you need to operate outside of normal business hours, BE SURE to arrange that beforehand. Mr. Fetter and his employees will be more than willing to accommodate your schedule, but certain security matters must be adhered to. The gas prices are extremely reasonable, considering the proximity of this General Aviation airport to downtown DC, especially if you have Air BP discounts. All in all, a GREAT experience!

A+++ Flew my RG into Hyde to overnight for a couple days. Passed all the DC3/TSA checks months earlier, but still was a little leary. No problem getting in, and once on the ground, Stan at Fetter Aviation treated us like royalty. 24 hr self-serve fuel, NO fees, and great access to the city. Runway could use a little work, but please please please...take the initiative, go through the background process, and visit this airport often to keep it alive.
