Great people and a nice airport. Self serve fuel is unreliable. Always some kind of issue with it every time I stop. Call ahead when needing fuel.

Stopped in for Fuel on Saturday and Sunday October 3-4, 2009, while vacationing in the mountains at WV62, Windwood. Nice airport and great fuel price. Self-serve, but had a nice ladder for me to fuel my Cessna. Easy in and out approaches for either runway.

Diverted to W99 in my Tripacer on my way from DC area to LaCrosse WI. Got weathered in and what a wonderful place to stop! Brian, Tom and Craig were great! Helped me find a hotel and gave me a ride both ways. Great Facility and good fuel prices. I would consider going out of my way to stop there again. They exemplify the best of our aviation community.

Had an electical problem while travelling west. Landed at W99 and met Larry and Matt. Problem was a shot voltage regulator. Matt flew to the parts supplier up north and then helped me and Larry until late that evening putting in. Larry's wife Joan cooked us dinner and then Larry ran me to a local hotel. Service was first-rate. If you're going to break down try and do it around Petersburg, WV. Thanks guys for getting me up and running. You were terrific!

Fuel price was reasonable, self-service. There weather service was down but I was able to use the WIFI with my laptop to look at weather. Would stop in again.

I agree with the others, and excellent stop (7/26) with the best fuel prices around. Terminal building, while scrupulously clean and stocked with snacks, has only basic computer-based weather information and no internet access. Many thanks to the gentleman who helped me with the gas pump and oil. The SS gas pump is open 24hrs, the terminal building is not so call ahead.

Great airport. Take note that the PAPI lights are 6 degrees, and for good reason. No issue getting in and out in my Mooney M20F. Snacks in the FBO were great (lots of home baked options) and friendly staff. Fuel was cheapest around - I will gladly return!

Flew in 8/18/2007. This is an excellent airport. Very well maintained. Lots of amenities extras that you don't get at other airports. Nice pilot lounge. Assistance with the self-service fuel if you need it. Great service. Low fuel prices. Town nearby. Snacks available at the airport. Fly-in camping on he airport. What more could a pilot ask for.

Super nice stop with friendly service and low prices (self service fuel available). One of the best self-service snack bars I have seen with fresh home made sandwiches, yogurt, large selection of drinks, etc.

Had a business meeting in Smoke Hole, WV (Cabins) we made a quick flight from CHO to Grant County. The people at Stahl were friendly and the service was good. It is a small airport just the way it is suppose to be. Bring your own tie down ropes, they have them available but are not in the best of condition. I would go back there (my second visit) again. My first visit was a precautionary landing back in 1996 in my Mooney. Again, they were there to help and got my plane back in a couple days after the part showed. Go visit Petersburg, take a fly rod with you. The fishing is great.
