I've had the pleasure of flying in and out of this airport for over 15 years and have enjoyed every time. Very capable airport, I used it with everything from jets to piston singles. Bob and Cindy are the absolute best FBO owners you could ever meet. They run an excellent business, have always gone out of their way to look after me and my airplanes, and have some incredible coffee! If you fly anywhere within 500 miles of this place it is worth stopping by! The whole area is beautiful and excellent service.

It really doesn't get any better than this! Bob, Cindy, and Larry are the finest people you ever want to meet and bring a mixture of warmth (with that small town attitude) and class (attention to every detail) to this beautiful airport. Landing at 6A4 is a real treat. A picturesque spot flanked on the north side by a cornfield, the runway is well maintained. Watch out for local wildlife (the four legged variety) at the approach end of Rwy 24. Expect the finest coffee in the high country and hospitality you won't want to leave behind (like the fuel in the truck). I've been calling 6A4 my summer home since 2007 and leaving always makes me sad. There's plenty to do in the high country. Give Bob, Cindy and Larry a call and see what they suggest.

One of the most pleasant experiences I've ever had at an FBO. The kind folks that run it were so helpful. We landed there to wait out a line of thunderstorms and they loaned us the courtesy car, called and made a reservation for us at a fantastic restaurant in town, and towed the plane to the pumps for us. I can't say enough good things about them. If you are in the area or are looking for a great, scenic fuel stop, then I highly recommend them.

We were greeted with the most expeditious service by the friendliest people. These kind folks allowed us to use their personal-owned vehicle to go to Boone, NC (approx. 20 minute beautiful drive) for the day. This is a true down-home airport, with excellent service. You must stop here!

This is by far the best FBO I've ever been to in 25 yrs of flying. Bob Johnson could not be more helpful or pleasant. You literally get the Red Carpet treatment. They always have excellent coffee brewing, and they may even give you a bag of coffee beans to go. They also sell the coffee beans. In addition there usually is a freshly baked tin of fudge on the counter, just to make you feel special. This is way better than the standard FBO popcorn. On my most recent trip to 6A4 Bob called the pro shop at the local golf course to arrange for a ride from the airport for us. Our ride was waiting when we landed. The golf course is well worth the trip. Red Tail Mountain Country Club.

A couple of my partners and I went to Boone, NC for business. We reserved a rental car through Enterprise. When we landed we were greeted by Bob & Cindy (Cindy had the RED CARPET.) Bob had our rental car parked right beside where he parked us and had it running with the A/C on. The beauty of the airport is exceeded only by the hospitality of Bob, Cindy, & Larry. We will definitely make this our destination airport for Boone-weather permitting. The "big city" FBO's could sure learn a lot from Doe Mountain Aviation. Thanks for a great experience.

I also had the pleasure of landing at Mountain City airport we were in a Hawker 400XP (Beechjet) and the service was excellent. The owners Bob and Cindy Johnson are GREAT and very professional. This is the most Friendly FBO in the country. The Doe Mountain Cofffee along with fresh baked cookies. It is a must see... With Jet A and 100LL they will service all types of aircraft. Plans to add GPS approach and add 500 feet to runway will allow more to visit. Go check them out and say hi.

I had the pleasure of landing at Mountain City airport in a Citation Sovereign and the service and hospitality were excellent. Owners Bob and Cindy Johnson are professionals in the FBO business, so if Mountain City airport is convenient to your destination, it is a great place to visit.

This FBO and airport should win the award for the best airport and service provider in the country! (Hey Signature you could learn from these guys!!) Flew in to this very pretty airport in a Lear 40, fun approach and departure. Great service all round, and great catering given to us from the local Golf Club. Pity the runway isn’t a little longer so you could buy more gas, and not have to fuel stop on a long flight out of here. Oh well, cant have everything! Private pilots - this would be a great place just to have fun and fly to on a weekend, mark it on you map of I have to fly to places! Go and say hi to Bob and Cindy at Doe Mountain. (Ps great cookies!)

Good friendly folks will pump the gas and help you out any way they can. Remember RIGHT TRAFFIC for RWY 6; terrain is tight to the sides, but fairly clear dep/arr path that most any aircraft can handle daytime.
