What a beautiful field. Stopped in 1 Aug 09 and the Locals were at the field having a hamburger. Got one myself had a coke and the 100LL was 3.50. Will stop here again.

Richard Downing Airport is what all small, rural airports should strive to be! We stopped in on the way to Oshkosh because of the inexpensive fuel and went out of our way to do so on the return trip because of the first rate service, food and facilities. These folks are some of the most helpful you will find anywhere! They have the total package. If you are looking for a destination on the weekend, consider going there for the buckeye ice cream, hamburgers, hot dogs and great atmosphere! Top rate in every respect!

I was in one of five airplanes heading for Oshkosh from Maryland when we had to stop at I40 to wait out some approaching thunderstorms. Turned out to be a great stop. The friendly staff cooked a pancake and bacon breakfast for our entire group! The Avgas was a good price and the facility is first-rate. Nice cross-country stop.

What a beautiful airport and the picture here does not remotely do it justice. A perfect heartland setting in the rolling hills. Great prices, sparkling clean facilities, excellent staff, the patio cafe (Fri Sat Sun only) with polite young attendants. Said there will be a new restaurant built on site soon. Will definitely stop whenever possible.

What a GREAT place! We had to deviate for weather, and basically picked this place for geography. The fuel was cheap at 3.57 per gallon, the service was friendly, and they now have food. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays they set up a grill outside. Hot dogs and hamburgers are excellent and cheap.

One of the nicest fuel stops you'll find. The airport is modern and well equipped, the service (full service) is friendly and fast and the price is great. They'll even give you a 5-cent per gallon discount for cash or personal check. Be sure to call ahead to be sure they'll be open at the time you're coming.

We visited I40 on June 7, 2009 for a visit to Roscoe Village. As others have already stated, this is an excellent small airport. The facilities are brand new and nicely kept. Staff was outstanding and very helpful. We were called on Unicom as soon as we left the runway as to our needs. The fuel truck was at our plane as we were shutting down. No fee for parking our Skyhawk for the day. Roscoe Village, a restored canal town is worth a visit, they will gladly provide transportation from and back to the airport. This is a great cross country stop or a good day trip destination. Just remember, no fuel after the FBO closes.

From John Carpenter on 20-May-2009
Visited 5/18/09. Fuel prices are the lowest around and the FBO is super. They let us use the crew car for lunch in Roscoe Village- less than 10 minutes into town. Ate at the Old Warehouse and enjoyed a nice lunch. The patio restaurant at the airport will not open until the second weekend in June this year. We will be back because we hear the food is great.

I agree with the posts that praise the quality of this airport. I too was traveling through the area over the Labor Day weekend. I wasn't as fortunate as the other writer because I switched the AWOS off after the weather read out and I didn't get the NOTAM that the airport was closed for Labor Day. After landing my battery died. Fortunately I had a battery charger and there was an outside outlet to plug it into. While the battery charged, a nice man who worked at I40 and who lived nearby just happened to drop in and he graciously fueled me. I am never this lucky, but I was that day. When going through the Coshocton area, I always stop by I40 for fuel as the airport is clean, neat, the fuel reasonably priced, the view from the lounge good, as is the popcorn. However, a lesson that I learned on this stop is to check and be sure an airport that is only "full service fuel" is open on a holiday.

Me, too!!! That is, great little airport with a clean and complete office/lounge/waiting area. Fair fuel prices and good service. Great x/c stop for sure.

From Vince Massimini on 02-Sep-2008
I stop at I40 frequently, and it is a nice airport with good service. The management needs to learn about NOTAMs, however. I was inbound on Labor Day and heard on the AWOS that the terminal was closed--therefore, there was no fuel. After some scrambling, I diverted. There was no NOTAM that fuel was not available. This could be a real problem, since there isn't an airport very close by as an alternate for us folks that fly Champs with small gas tanks.

From Matt Willett on 13-Aug-2008
As always, nothing but the best from I40. Top notch, super clean facility, great people and year after year the best fuel prices in the area. A truly great place to stop at.

What a great airport..Beautiful FBO facility and service. A crew car was offered when we arrived on a Tuesday and we bypassed the fast-food joints just a mile away in favor of Spitlers approx 3 miles south. I'd pass up Spitlers next time (except possibly for breakfast) in favor of a couple of nice looking restaurants in Roscoe Village which is just next door. Roscoe Village is a historic "canal village" and looks like it could make for an interesting visit. Apparently you can also ride a replica canal boat at Lake Park located between Roscoe Village and the airport. Before you depart you can get a great shot of your aircraft from atop the knoll where the FBO is situated with the beautiful Ohio countryside falling away in the background.

Just wanted to thank Keith and all the staff for providing super nice services on my fuel stop back from Oshkosh. Nicest FBO I encountered on my trip and when I realized that I had left my cell phone behind, a quick call to Keith and he offered to ship it back to me!! Super Nice gesture and I will be back!! Thanks again guys!!

Stopped enroute from New Jersey back to Kansas city in a C-182. The crew car was already out, so the employee (I'm sorry I didn't catch his name) allowed us to use his personal truck to run into town to grab a bite to eat. Very friendly, helpful service, will stop by if ever in the area again.

From Aaron Hopkins on 25-Aug-2007
Very nice FBO. I had not stopped in since the new administration building. It is very nice and the line guy was very friendly. The new patio grill is a nice touch. While the selection is slightly limited, the food was very tasty.

Coming home to Maryland last week from Oshkosh, we were stopped by a strong stationary front and landed at I40. We quickly found at least a dozen other pilots from the Washington, DC area grounded there as well in the midst of an ice cream social. The county owned and operated airport features an incredible patio grill on weekends with the biggest ice cream cones you've ever seen for only two dollars. While a handful of the trapped pilots opted to press on that evening, the majority of us stayed and enjoyed incredible hospitality. The manager, Bethel, open up the FBO which features a shower, internet, satellite TV, and a kitchen for camping, gave us keys to the crew car for those wishing to stay in town, and helped others arrange a rental car to drive home. He even brought his wife and daughter by later that evening to check on those of us staying in the FBO to make sure we had everything we needed.

Stopped for great fuel prices. While boarding the plane my wife fell and struck her head on the asphalt. She required an overnight stay in the local hospital and some stitches. The people at I40 could not have been nicer. They lent me the use of the courtesy car for a day and a half and suggested someplace that would board our dog overnight. GREAT PEOPLE! Oh yes, they have one of the nicest FBOs you will ever find at a small airport!

Stopped in on our way back from the Grumman Annual Convention in Glens Falls, NY. Fuel price was great. The Patio Grill was a nice surprise. Excellent picnic fare food at great prices. Service was lightening fast, and we had just enough room for 2 scoops of Buckeye ice cream in a waffle cone for $2! Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area. Remember, the Patio Grill is only open on the weekends.

I stopped in today for fuel and was very impressed with great fuel prices and the excellent services that I received. I cannot wait until June 23rd when the new restaurant opens. I am looking forward to stopping in again and enjoying a great meal and great fuel rates!

This FBO is a great place. We always make it a point when we are up and out to visit. We always stop because of the cheap gas but also enjoy the service and the great people that work there. Keep up the great job. I would recommend going out of your way to stop. It is worth it. We appreciate you!!

From Joseph J Bruzzese on 29-May-2007
Stopped for gas unannounced today. BP truck came to a stop at my plane as I came to a stop. In and out in record time with the cheapest gas anywhere. I'll go out of my way to go back.

Stopped in May 23 at 14:30. I did not see the BP sign & proceeded to the self serve pumps (towards the south end of the field); over the Unicom came a voice, "If the aircraft that just landed needs fuel, please park up near the FBO and I'll drive out to you." They are installing a patio and will start a BBQ when completed. Facilities clean and building were comfortably cool. Good cross country stop.

From Robert Wilson on 09-Mar-2007
I stop here several times a year for nothing more than the friendly service and the GREAT fuel prices. As for fuel prices, consider this: Today on AirNav, the average price within 40 miles of my home base (AKR) is $3.95 with a high of $4.91. Here at I40 the fuel today was a mere $2.88 a gallon --- that's only 29 cents a gallon more than what I paid to fill my car up today!! I'm not naive. I know they're not losing money at I40 and there are only limited wholesale suppliers of Avgas. So as for many of you other FBO's (especially the $4.00+ guys), all I can say is there is some serious gouging going on. Keep up the great work, Coshocton!!

Stopped in on Columbus Day weekend on the way to and from Michigan. Great service and friendly folks. This is our regular fuel and rest stop between Alexandria, Virginia and Battle Creek/Kalamazoo, MI. Always the best fuel prices in a relaxed environment. Quick turns if that's what you're looking for. We will keep coming back.
