A traditionally IFR and Low IFR airport, so read up before arriving. Also read the county website on fees collected through Vector, by mail. As noted, KACV is one of the rare airports with landing fees for regular GA flights. Parking fees kick in after only 2 hours, rather than overnight, despite paying the landing fee. Even with fees, there is no pilot room, shelter, or other facility like you get with similar ramp fees at a fancy FBO. The commercial airport terminal is accessible. There is clear signage that leads you to the man-gate and the code clearly shown to get back in. Enterprise (in the terminal) seems to have the best opening hours to get a car.
Airports in Humboldt County have struggled throughout the years with seeming to be be anti general aviation. Little to no services, high fuel costs and now landing fees.... Too many other places to go and spend your money at that actually want and appreciate your business!!
