Altus/Quartz Mountain Regional Airport is an excellent place to stop. All the staff members are very helpful and professional. They all go out of their way to make you feel welcome. They are waiting to guide you in, chalk you, fuel the aircraft, hangar the aircraft if the weather looks questionable. Overall a GREAT place and one of the best I've ever landed at.

Altus remains a great place to stop. They're once again loaning the courtesy car overnight, and they insisted on hangaring my place (for free) because there was a chance of thunderstorms overnight. Nice facility, great service, cheap fuel.

I decided to stop by Altus regional for a fuel stop. The Field has an excellent large Runway, large taxiways, and large Ramp Area. There was an attendant standing on the ramp ready to guide us to the parking ramp before we even exited to runway to the taxi way. They parked our plane, chocked it with in seconds. We were worried gas prices would be high with the Full Service. But were shocked it was 3.25 a gallon!!! It is one of the nicest Airports in the Okalahoma/Texas Area that I've been to. The FBO was super clean and had everything a pilot might need. I will def stop in every chance I get. The part I liked most about the airport is that I didn't see any Huge 10 Ft. tall chain link fences around like other airports. So it didn't look like we flew into a prison like all the airports: (but we felt REALLY at home and comfortable!!! :)

Stopped at AXS midday on 28 Oct. had found the place on AirNav. They were very helpful when I called ahead with questions. The airport and facilities are very well kept. Altus Approach was easy to work with concerning their TRSA and Class D. Fuel price was as advertised and the lowest we'd found on a 2000 mile trip. The staff gave great service. Loaner car was better than what we drive at home! The noon buffet, near the airport, they suggested was at very reasonable price with lots of home cooked items. Glad we stopped.

This is a fantastic stop. Nice long runway with no obstructions on either end. Fuel is the lowest around, as advertised. I landed in the evening, and they put the airplane in the hangar for me no charge, because there was forecast weather overnight. They drove me to the hotel and picked me up the next morning. There's a brand new Hampton Inn about a mile from the airport. Perfect!

The bad news: they no longer loan out the courtesy cars overnight. The good: they'll chauffeur you to the motel, and back in the morning. Still a good overnight stop.

Stopped here for fuel and got the usual friendly and efficient service. This is a great place to stop!

From Bill Kendrick on 05-May-2008
I didn't need fuel, but I still received outstanding service, including tie-down and transportation to/from the air show at Altus Air Force Base. The staff was one of the friendliest I've found anywhere.

I had a most pleasurable visit to Altus and the Quartz Mountain Regional Airport today. The airport is impeccably clean, neat and manicured. The staff and management are extraordinarily competent and friendly. Facilities are second to none, nice G/A terminal with a well-complemented pilots lounge, clean restrooms and courtesy car. I recommend Altus as a destination or a "quick-turn", time saving cross-country fuel stop. Full service fuel at self-serve prices!

From James Hunt on 07-May-2007
I landed my T-34 at Altus to stay overnight. Due to the POSSIBILITY of bad weather, they were towing my plane to a hangar before I could take more than 5 steps away from it. Greg Camp, the Airport Director is outstanding. He has great local flying knowledge and loves aviation. He sets a great example for the FBO employees (who are second to none). Altus - Quartz Mountain is a great place to fly to!!!!

From Dennis Hitz on 11-Dec-2006
Very nice Pilots room. The State Inmates that work there were very friendly. Might be a problem "liability" for the Inmates refueling aircraft, but seem to know what they were doing. Fuel prices competitive.
