We were on an 1100-mile cross-country trip and had been dodging weather for about 4 hours when the oil pressure gauge pegged to the high side. We diverted to Coulter Field and were pleased when we heard someone at the FBO give us the winds. We contacted them on the radio to see if there was a mechanic on the field. Turns out the guy we were talking to was Karl Preston, the FBO Manager. He walked us over to the mechanic and the mechanic stopped what he was doing to evaluate the situation (on a Friday afternoon before Labor Day!). Turns out that we had a bad connection or something and we didn't have any problems the remainder of the trip. By now, we were tired of fighting weather and they helped us find a hotel (even though it was an A&M football weekend) and loaned us the truck overnight. Extremely nice people and I couldn't have asked for a better experience when faced with my situation. I will DEFINITELY visit again when I am in the area. They are a top-notch facility!

Pulled right up to the fuel tanks and was met by an extremely friendly, courteous young man. While he re-fueled my plane, I took the courtesy truck down the road for a burger. Field and FBO immaculate.

I served as a volunteer official for the All Women's Air Race Classic Air Race that stopped at Coulter Field June 20, 21 and 22, 2006. You have a first class general aviation facility that offers what the general aviation community is seeking. I cannot emphasis strongly enough what you have in your FBO manager. I am truly qualified to give you expert opinion here.... He presents one of the most well kept facilities to be found anywhere...He is meticulous in the care of the airport. He is the best when it comes to managerial skills. His personnel line up behind him with a loyalty unmatched. His personnel are trained perfectly, perform professionally and do so because they care and are proud of what they are doing. It is not often you find a manager that can run and lead "his troops" in this manner. Your airport is being managed and run by people who put their heart and souls into Coulter Field and aviation. Most Sincerely, Patricia "Pat" Purcell
