If you are headed out west (or to Theodore Roosevelt Nat'l Park), this is a nice place to stop. It's in the middle of oil country and the people at the airport are great. They arranged for a hotel and a car and gave us some travel ideas while in the area. When a big storm threatened, they pulled our bird into a hangar so that it wouldn't get damaged. Now, in my book, that's hospitality.

I visit Dickinson every summer for a week or so, and highly recommend the Dickinson Air Service. The people are friendly and they really look out for your plane. I was tied down outside and the weather looked threatening, so they moved me into a hangar without me having to ask. They also have courtesy cars for four hours or less. Good fuel prices compared to other places around the country. Brand new FBO facilities. Wireless Internet in the FBO. Nice people.

13 Sep - I developed a serious engine problem en route over the Badlands and diverted to Dickinson Airport. Tim Hanna who advised me of a serious oil leak promptly met me. Even though I messed up their ramp with oil, Tim was friendly and courteous and immediately summoned the maintenance director, Milton Purvis. It was rapidly determined that I needed a new cylinder. Milton chased down the necessary parts, ordered them, had them FedEx (the FedEx airplane operates out of the same maintenance hangar) and installed them in 24-hours. Service does not get any better than that.

We stopped in at DIK for fuel en route to the east coast. We were met on the ramp as we taxied in and quickly fueled up. We had also developed a bit of a vacuum problem. Dickinson Air Service's mechanic, Mel, dropped what he was doing, and quickly and capably addressed the problem. Definitely a "with it" FBO.

Self Serve Island is located between the gold and blue hangars. Pop and snack machines at the FBO in the gold hangar. Quick and convenient self-serve fuel stop.
