Great Airport. All sorts of Military activity to observe. Also home of the WWII Airborne Demonstration Team, the only place in the world where you can be trained as a qualified parachutist just like in the military during WWII. The school is tough and not for everyone, but at the end of training-if you pass a rigorous course and test-, you can make 5 jumps out of a vintage C-47 aircraft and earn your Paratrooper wings, which are pinned on as "blood wings" by a WWII Veteran Paratrooper. "Remember, honor, serve", is there motto. What a great cause and great organization!! Well worth the visit.

Nice place to fuel and decent prices! Nice lounge, etc.. BUT!!!! We had an alternator quit on our Grumman Tiger about a half hour before we landed. We were shocked that the big Fredrick field has no mechanic or shop!!!!! WOW, bummer.... Called around on our own and found Fred Hardy and Mike at Mangun, 2K4.. Flew over there and they were really good and helpful... Ordered an alternator at 4 PM, Fred hauled us to a motel. The next morning he picked us up at the motel on his way back from UPS, he had us in the air again before noon... Slip
