I flew into Oswego yesterday. Excellent airport if you're looking for a nice place to stretch your legs. Quiet field (even on a Sunday we only saw 2 planes for the ~30 minutes we were in the pattern and on the ground. Syracuse Approach is very nice and accommodating of VFR traffic (and VFR flight following). CTAF frequency fairly quiet with occasional chatter from other airports on the same frequency. Runways and main taxiways are in great condition, but parts of the ramp are overgrown. Also, the restaurant appeared to be closed, but we didn't investigate. Lovely airport to fly into for a short stretch break.

It worked well as a "passing thru in a hurry" airport. Good self-serve Fuel Island, and easy taxi right back out again. Never did taxi the distance over to the FBO wherever that was, so no other impressions to share.

The on-field diner has closed as of 5/31/07. Big loss as this was a great place. I'll try to post if it opens with new staff.

Nice folks and low prices, but the line gal left the fuel cap loose on our Robinson R44 helicopter (risky because loose caps tend to fly back and hit the tail rotor, which often leads to an accident).

Beware of pilots on short final who don't use (have?) radios! This is an airport that you CAN NOT assume pilots are using the CTAF.

I got there at 20 minutes before closing, along with four other planes. Service was fast "I think they wanted to get out of there", and the staff friendly. But most of all the food was excellent, and at a good price.
