Flew in on a Thursday to go Salmon fishing. Staff was friendly. Plenty of tiedown rings but you need to bring your own ropes/chalks. $5/night tiedown fees. We rented a car through Enterprise who picked us up at the airport and drove us to their office in Oswego. Stayed at the TravelLodge (formerly Scottish Inn) in Oswego, which is inexpensive but clean and functional. Lunch at the airport restaurant Melany's Landing was excellent. Nice cross-country stop. If only we had been able to catch some Salmon!

We stopped for fuel and lunch while in route from Michigan to Maine on 5/2. Fuel prices were as advertised and both the fuel truck or self-service island were the same price. Restaurant has excellent food and a very friendly staff with great prices. If you're in the area you won't want to miss this one.

OK, The new winner of the best Hamburger is the dinner at Oswego Co Airport. Beats even Cherry Ridge PA airport dinner. And $4.99 with fries. Better check weight and balance after --it's huge. Don't miss this dinner when flying anywhere near FZY.

Stopped in for a visit to the Syracuse area arriving on 07 Aug and departing on 11 Aug 2008. This will be a mixed review. First of all the FBO is not the most hospitable for after hours arrivals. They close at 1600 and there is no entry into the terminal after hours, no phones or restrooms I could find. There was a notice posted stating the restrooms were operational in Hanger E however they didn't indicate where Hanger E was on the airport. I found it on the last day and they are on the public side of the fence. Despite our difficulties after hours, overnight fees are only $5.00 and you have to bring your own ropes (which I knew about) for tiedown. The self-serve fuel was well marked and easy to use. We checked out during normal business hours and the staff was friendly and accommodating.

I flew into Oswego yesterday. Excellent airport if you're looking for a nice place to stretch your legs. Quiet field (even on a Sunday we only saw 2 planes for the ~30 minutes we were in the pattern and on the ground. Syracuse Approach is very nice and accommodating of VFR traffic (and VFR flight following). CTAF frequency fairly quiet with occasional chatter from other airports on the same frequency. Runways and main taxiways are in great condition, but parts of the ramp are overgrown. Also, the restaurant appeared to be closed, but we didn't investigate. Lovely airport to fly into for a short stretch break.

It worked well as a "passing thru in a hurry" airport. Good self-serve Fuel Island, and easy taxi right back out again. Never did taxi the distance over to the FBO wherever that was, so no other impressions to share.

The on-field diner has closed as of 5/31/07. Big loss as this was a great place. I'll try to post if it opens with new staff.
