An excellent fuel stop. $4.75/gallon for 100LL today. We got there late (9PM), but called Martin on the posted phone number, who gave us instructions for the crew car. Very nice folks. Highly recommended. We stayed at a brand new Comfort Inn with free Internet and continental breakfast for $85.

Great Bend is a Great airport with friendly helpful staff. Upon arrival we were greeted by staff and had almost full serve gas service, at only $4.75 a gallon on July 11, 2008. Martin Miller the airport manager pulled out the courtesy car for us so we could get some lunch, about 3 miles into town. We will be back next year. Thanks!

Arrived on a Sunday for a fuel stop. The self-service pumps are in great shape (new) and were the cheapest fuel in the area. I've been told the city has a courtesy car, but we didn't need it. Good place to grab some fuel.

Good fuel prices and friendly folks. If you need to spend the night..Get there early as all public transport/taxi is shutdown by 6:30pm. Courtesy vehicle available with instructions on Self Service refuel door but I'd call ahead. Avoid the Travel Lodge...Nasty place.

Attendant hung around the self-service pump and helped the 3 planes getting fuel. After we fueled, he drove us to the clean FBO, and after we ate, he was driving by and gave a ride back to the plane. A good place to stop and the fuel prices are excellent.

We ended up not stopping at KGBD yesterday (went south because of concerted convective activity on the route) however I wanted to add my vote to how great Martin Miller is! We called the day before to ask about a hotel and tie down, he went out to a vacant tee hangar, measured to be sure our Baron would fit, and volunteered it for overnight if we were worried about threatening weather! I'm from the East coast, and we NEVER have folks look out for us like that!

Stopped for fuel 5-29-08. Brand new self serve island. Easy access, excellent price, easy to fly in/fly out. What's not to like about Great Bend? I'll be back.

Used Self Service system 12 May 08. Two fuel programs at field. One is FBO owned and other is city owned. City owns Self Serve system which has the lower prices. I asked about courtesy car. City system did not have a courtesy car. The FBO system has one but since I did not buy their fuel they would lend me the car for 10 dollars or I could rent a car. The FBO folks had someone in town so that person picked up lunch for me and I paid them when they came back to the airport. Overall my experience was positive and all of the folks were very pleasant and polite.
Response from Martin Miller, Airport Manager, City of Great Bend (self-serve fuel) The Courtesy Car is in place within 50 yards of the fuel pumps and ramp parking. Call 620 792-9446 to get immediate access.

The Self-serve fuel is CHEAP!!! If you have a Texaco or Chevron card you can knock off 10 cents from the posted price. Martin usually comes out to help you with the self serve process. Caution the FBO will guide you on to the ramp if you call on the radio for fuel prices as they are competitors to the self serve pump (FBO prices are HIGH)

Nice fuel stop. The posted self-service price is a tad higher without a Texaco or Chevron card...But nice field with cross-runways and ILS approach. A good cross-country fuel stop.

Flew into Great Bend today en route to Leavenworth. Even though the gas is self-serve, Martin Miller met me at the pump and assisted in my refueling. This is the kind of business that should be supported.

Obviously the city has taken the fuel issue into its own hands outside self serve...Martin is wonderful. The outfit inside the terminal is awful...You need to stop here for fuel on the way to OSH...The city is the lowest in the state.... The FBO is the highest anywhere I've ever been.

A great stop and very low fuel prices at a brand-new Texaco self-serve. The airport manager (Martin) is very committed to providing great service, and even put my plane in an empty T-hangar for no charge.

Excellent fuel stop & low price with easy in and out. The city has installed a new first class self serve fueling station with a gallon read out that can be read from 40'. That is a real plus when fueling my 310. The ILS is an added advantage for GBD.

Great place for a fuel stop. 24 hour Self-serve. Called to verify hours, Martin very helpful. Stopped in after hours and he met us at the airport to make sure all went well. We asked if there was food close by, and he offered to give us a ride. Above and beyond. It is very nice to have facilities and staff like Martin. THANKS!!! We will stop again.

Glad to see the TEXACO fuel available at Great Bend. This will be the end of the highest priced Av Gas in this area. Great Bend should be a GREAT fuel stop. They have the best Runway in this part of the State. This fueling operation is long overdue. Stop in GBD and save some money.
