Props to the FBO manager here in the handling of a recent challenge brought to his attention. After landing in my Cirrus SR22, the fuel guy acknowledged that I wanted "fuel to tabs, " only to fill both tanks about 1" higher than that (resulting in an extra ~20 gallons of fuel), only to respond with an unsympathetic "sorry." I was very lucky that I was dropping off a PAX, or would have been ~120 lbs overweight. When I told the front desk of this happening, and asked them for any [per gallon] discount they could offer on the excess fuel, they engaged the manager who immediate responded with a reassuring "we are better than that" and proactively deducted the ENTIRE cost of the additional fuel (which I did not ask for, nor was I expecting). Everyone makes mistakes, but how we handle them is what really matters. I was beyond impressed with him taking ownership of the problem and offering such a gracious solution. Good folks I will certainly go out of my way to patronize in the future.
