Passed thru on April 12, 08 flying a Starduster Too headed for Ca. Great FBO. Great Service!!!!

From Gary Lewis on 10-Apr-2008
This was my first trip to this FBO and the overall experience was good. Facility was very nice, line service met our aircraft promply, and the CSR was both friendly & helpful. I feel the crew car could be replaced with a more up to date vehicle considering the price of fuel and the $100.00 fee I was charged for a facility fee.

The people on the West side (locals) of the Hammond airport are great. The young lady flight instructor on the west side went out of her way to help us and even sold us some of her personal oil so I wouldn't have to taxi across the airport to the FBO. The locals knew the problems with the self serve fuel pump and had the "trick" to making it work. We had three false tries and timeouts with no gas pumped because the pump switch is faulty. If I had landed with any fuel at all I would have flown somewhere else. As it was we landed empty and took on $725.00 worth of gas after learning the "flip the switch trick". My fill up alone should give the FBO enough profit to fix the switch I would think. Seems like it has been this way for some time as the locals had devised a solution to it. Even though the West side folks were real nice, I'll have to say it is the first and last time I refuel in Hammond.

The people at Top Gun are Top Notch. Stayed with them during the holiday weather. They took care of plane and my family and provided quality service. If you need to land in Hammond, La., do business with the best. Al O'Donnell Quality Manager Southern Clay Products Gonzales, TX

See previous comments about location of self-serve pumps versus location of FBO. Pump is in reasonable condition but pumps very slow. There is a terminal on the west side near the pump, open during daylight hours but you can gain access after hours. Restrooms are available at all times on the west side near the self-serve pumps if you don't wish to taxi over to the east side.

We were at Top Gun on 9/17/06. We have been there several times in the past year and the people there are very friendly and helpful. One caution: Top Gun is on the East side of the airport all by itself. They advertise FS and SS. If you taxi all the way over there you will find that they only have FS available at that location. Their SS pump is on the West side of the field. The difference between FS and SS was $1.14 a gallon for 100LL!! Of course, if you want to use their facility for flight planning, restroom, etc. You will have to taxi to the East side, which is a good mile. The facility is very nice and clean. The next time I go there I will fill up at the SS pump on the West side and then taxi over to the East side. If you're staying overnight, cab fare to the city is about $12.00. They were unable to hangar my aircraft when I was there a few months ago and stayed overnight.

Had a day trip in 6-22-06. Fuel was a bit high but I knew that going in. Line service was good and the CSRs were helpful. Crew van had brakes and the food at Tope La was quite good.

From Ben Clayton on 16-Mar-2006
The Muffulotta is absolutely fantastic. As for military pilot's getting a "lincoln" no, we got the old crappy, brakeless van as well. But that sandwich was great.

From Phillip Miller on 24-Feb-2006
Although the fuel is a bit pricey, we got GREAT service from line tech and CSR! Wi-fi available. Take crew car and directions to Tope La restaurant; they have wonderful cajun and seafood!!!

From Solomon Short on 28-Oct-2005
I should have read the previous comments about "Top Gun Aviation" before spending $50.00 on a landing fee. Mr. Eirmann was very rude and will never see any business from me or any company I work for ever again.

From Rodney Swanson on 14-Sep-2005
With the increases we have seen in fuel prices, I shouldn't be surprised, and I absolutely love to see a business owner exploit a market. What market you say? The multiple thousands of gallons bought by Angel Flight and Life Guard flights to support the Katrina relief. Why did I spend hundreds of dollars of my own time to fly supplies into Hammond only to be gouged by Top Gun. $5.13 a gallon. Mr. Eiermann, this is not LaGuardia or Midway. There is absolutely no reason for these prices. I will not return!
