Despite the $40 facility fee with an empty ramp, the employees were friendly. Keep in mind I was only in a Cherokee!
From Dan Brown on 30-Jul-2018

Flew in last week on vacation. Folks on the line helped park us, unload our bags (which were numerous) and even transported them out to the parking lot for us. Overnight ramp space was $30/night. I purchased enough 100LL (20+ gals) to avoid a facility fee of $40. My previous gripes about this location (different FBO then) appear to have been addressed with Hartford Jet Center. If in the area, I won't hesitate to use them again.

I just called and was planning an unscheduled trip to tie down for a week. 80 dollar ramp fee 40 bucks a night and 125 dollar special event fee for a golf tournament in the area ... no thanks!
From Don Kugler on 30-Aug-2017

I flew into HFD today and parked at the Hartford Jet Center. I paid a $10 landing fee and a $40 facility fee for a two-hour stop in a piston single. When I questioned the high fee, I got a blank stare from the gal behind the counter. Clearly not her fault. When I asked what the facility fee was for, she replied, "for the personal service". Note that I parked my own aircraft without a line guy present and choked and tied it down myself with my own ropes and chocks. I was told that if I spent at least $20 in their restaurant they would take $20 off the facility fee. Really? Being involved in airport operation myself, I more than willing to pay a FAIR price for services, but I can certainly recognize a bad deal when I see one, and this is one. This is exactly the type of extortion promulgated by FBOs that AOPA is working to eliminate.

I fly in periodically for lunch or to visit the local avionics shop. Tower seems always cheerful and helpful. Today I came in to pick up a 10-year old and her mother for a PALS (Patient Airlift Services) flight to KILG. The reception desk knew I was coming and waived all fees; they were delightful with the 1st time flyer patient and her mother and handed out popcorn and drinks to settle nerves. Thank you HJC for your support!

Flew in to try the new restaurant, The Flying Monkey. Great establishment, great food and great staff. Perfect view of the runway and airport operations. No charge for parking because we patronized the restaurant. As always the controllers were a pleasure to deal with.
From Chris Hall on 23-Jan-2017

VERY expensive FBO for transient aircraft. Paid $654.00 to park on ramp outside for four nights (King Air 200). That is even after large fuel purchase. Double and triple cost of surrounding airports. Didn't do thorough enough homework before going and got burned. Service and restaurant is nice, I guess it should be for that price.

Iíve been in the shared hangar for two years now, and have seen the transition from Atlantic to HJC. I have nothing but great things to say, from refurbishment of the terminal to the staff. The line guys are always responsive and friendly.

I want to thank Lindsey and Shep for providing an inside look at the operation of Brainard Airport and informing our students of the various careers associated with it! Last week, we toured Brainard Airport with 15 high school students, interested in aviation careers, and spent most of the day there, experiencing up close, what most people never see! They are still talking about it! We'll be back with more students! Thank you again!

The Cafe at the HJC FBO has closed but I was told that it would reopen in "about a month" possibly under new management.
From Tony Crespi on 29-Jul-2016

In our experience at Hartford Brainard Airport it has become clear that Hartford Jet Centers Shep Duro, Operations Manager - one of a handful one can trust to tow a Mooney with tight tow limits - and the line crew including Bob, Tim, Matt, Payton, and Heather, personify the kind of professionalism and friendliness ideal for fueling and line services. In addition the nicely renovated base facility is most appealing. These folks create a warm and friendly reception most appreciated.
From Richard Polivy on 28-Jul-2016

Hartford Jet is a breath of fresh air to the Hartford FBO. Great new terminal and even better a refreshing helpful attitude whether youíre are a single, twin or a jet. Shep and the line crew not only simile and seem happy but are knowledgeable, pleasant and competent. Kudos to the improvements.
From Barry Agosti on 27-Jul-2016

I have been at HFD for years renting a hangar for my piston Bonanza. I recently stepped up to a turbine and needed more space. Cyril (GM) helped me with this transition and has been extremely accommodating. The change from Atlantic to HJC has been a major improvement of the FBO at HFD. All of the staff is will and eager to help with any and all requests.
From Robert Jones on 17-Jun-2016

I recently moved to the area and was looking for a new home for my SE piston a/c. Cyril and the personnel at HJC convinced me in my first visit that I was in the right place. The environment seems much more aviator-centric than typical FBO's. It's hard to describe but everyone I met, from the line, to the desk, to Cyril (the GM), was hustling, knowledgeable, and eager to solve any and all problems. Plus the attached restaurant has been full of happy aviators every time I've been there. This place definitely feels like "home."
