Even before I arrived in my Bonanza, Jimsair gave me great service. Pierre booked a hotel for me at a great crew rate (the savings more than made up for the ramp fee and gas premium) and the Jimsair shuttle van meant I didn’t have to rent a car. Kudos also to Rod, who helped me with an anxiety provoking but ultimately minor mechanical issue. Two thumbs WAY up.

I arrived on the day of the Red Bull Air Races on a *very* busy day. Jimsair had their ramp full of Citations & Gulfstreams, but they treated my Saratoga very well. For a "big" airport, Avgas isn't too awful here--As I write this, $5/gal is the national norm and it was something like $5.75/gal here. I placed the order for 20 gals. Instead of ramp fee. Somehow topped it off with 32. I squawked--I did not want to pay that unnecessary overpriced fuel. To their *huge* credit, they made it right. I offered to pay for the 12 gals difference at a discounted rate but they simply did not charge me for that 12 gal. Difference. These folks are a class act. Even with their overpriced gas, they are not nearly as bad as I paid at Double Eagle in Albuquerque or in Scottsdale 2 weeks earlier. They dealt with me fairly and professionally. I will definitely be back! Thank you Jimsair!

They are pricey, but what place isn’t at this kind of airport! Unique facilities inside a metal hangar. Rooms inside were air-conditioned but the outside was a bit warm and stuffy. Roomy pilot lounge, on site deli (with hot foods). Staff very helpful, a little trouble getting out the door cause there was nobody to open it, but no biggy!

Location location location, SAN is in the heart of San Diego and even though Jimsair treated us well it would sure be great if they had competition. Also be advised that getting clearance into the arriving / departing aluminum conga line took 20 minutes.

Awesome approach, great controllers, and friendly and efficient service from the staff at Jimsair. They even gave me a ride to my hotel. The overnight fee for my single was significantly discounted as I took 20 gals of fuel. By my calculations, the cab fare to and from any of the other GA airports would have easily exceeded the ramp fee and gas cost premium as KSAN, and that's before you put a price on convenience. Besides, flying the approach over the city at 130 KTS, wedged between a couple of 737s was totally worth the price of admission!

After crossing the US in a C206, Jimsair was very accommodating and provided excellent service for an overnight stay.

From S. Dupuis on 22-Aug-2007
Landed at KSAN in a Debonair for the beginning of a flying Vacation. Approach was great and so was tower. Jimsair was excellent. Clean, friendly, wireless Internet. They greeted us with a luggage cart, and took us to our hotel. $25 is the fee and worth it. Will return.

From Geza Kalman on 21-Aug-2007
Received very good service during our visit on 8/19 in our Archer. We took the trolley, from the station across the street, to "old town" for dinner ~ made for a great evening! Paying the $25 ramp fee made more sense for us, however they would waive this with a 20 gal fuel purchase. Despite the congestion and costs, Jimsair still makes San Diego Lindbergh a great destination stop for us.

I visited Jimsair in June for the first time, flying my Bonanza. I was a bit hesitant about parking at Jimsair because of the mixed reviews at this web site, but I always wanted to try the approach, see the view on arrival and departure, and this was the closest airport to my destination. I had excellent service. The line boys were at my airplane with the golf cart, and they were fast calling me a cab and with my bill at departure. Their fuel prices are not cheap but they gave me $0.15/gal discount and waived $15/night from the parking fee. Not the cheapest prices, overall, but reasonable for a big city, international airport. I was back again in July, this time with family. Jimsair crew was even friendlier than before. Same discount as before. I needed oxygen and their service was efficient and cost the same as at home (APA, Denver). We had a quick lunch at their gift shop before departure and the food was excellent. I would go back again any time and I can highly recommend them.

In early October, my wife and I are celebrating our 2-year anniversary and plan to stay at Paradise Point. I drive a Piper Arrow and thought I would park at SAN, are there any tricks to rips for the approach and landing? Is it worth it to land there? I thought it would be a treat (for me mostly) to land at a class B airport for the weekend. Any feedback is much appreciated.

They are now charging $90 a day for a B55 Baron!!! Already contacted the San Diego Chamber of Commerce and the SAN Regional Airport Authority about this robbery. Off to MYF...

From Peter Marx on 18-Jun-2007
Was in and out today to pick up a passenger. $25.00 fee without gas, assistance, or even convenient parking. They put my Diamond DA-40 and me about as far away as possible. The longest part of the experience (other than walking to/from the airplane) was waiting to pay the exorbitant fee. Jimsair needs some competition. Waiving the fee required 20 gallons of 100LL at $6/gallon -- or the equivalent of spending $40 extra to save $25. Aargh.

From Jon Nevin on 04-May-2007
I was skeptical flying in to SAN / Jimsair based on all of the comments but I think it was the best $20 ramp fee I've ever spent. Flew in a 172 5pm, controllers were great the whole way. Fuel is a little pricey but all of this is worth it for one of the most spectacular big city approaches around and the convenience of being in Downtown. The facility at Jimsair is nothing special; the staff was perfectly pleasant... I'd fly here again in a heartbeat

Flew in Thursday 4PM in my Baron. Jims was very busy but I was met immediately by 2 line guys who helped load passenger bags and took them to a waiting car where another guy loaded bags in the car. Fast friendly service. Same on the way out. Sat 8:30AM from start up to take off took one hour and fifteen minutes! 500ft OVC so traffic was landing RW9. Didn't feel departing RW9 was as safe as RW27 plus 4 knot tail wind. Those of us who felt the same including several airbuses, a citation, and a commuter waited for landing traffic. We were warned of a delay in fact we all shut down on the taxiway until the ceiling lifted and RW27 was used. Nobody's fault but a real PIA.

Get this, I was a rammper for the Brocamontes in the 80's it sucked then and it sucks now. After calling in advance the ramp fee/facility fee was completely different. In there defense the manager agreed to reduce my fee to $86. However the fuel minimums were 150 gallons at double what I could buy them elsewhere. I was ready to let it go until I asked about a drinking fountain, was then told that I had to purchase a bottle of water in the gift shop (price still remains unknown). When I went to buy a sandwich I was reasonably satisfied to find out that the sandwiches where $6.50 unless of course you want meat then add $1.50 and cheese an additional .50. It seems that they were trying to get you any way they could just like in the 80's. I will not bring our KA 90 there again. If our principals insist I will just quit.

From Bryan Weber on 10-Nov-2006
The prices at Jimsair are nothing short of insane. By no means do their prices reflect the market rate for fuel in the area. They simply charge too much because they feel they are the only game in town. To top it off, their staff is rude and slow. Get a grip guys. When we need to bring our aircraft into KSAN, we simply tanker fuel in and pay the ramp fee. Simply the worst FBO on the West Coast!

From Michael Couto on 31-Jul-2006
Jimsair is one of those FBO's that your passengers force you to go to. Of course it is the closest FBO to most of the hotspots that passengers like to go too, but if they realized how much more they charge compared to neighboring FBO's on other airports, they might think twice.

From Colin Summers on 26-Jul-2006
I flew into KSAN on a Saturday for Comic-con. I had called ahead and Jimsair confirmed they could call me a taxi. They said if they weren't busy they could drop me at the convention center, but it was a madhouse at the airport when I arrived so they called me a taxi as I was putting the cover on my plane. I was in a little DA40. They treated me like I was tooling around in a jet. Shuttled my son and I to the terminal, offered water, fuel, anything I needed... I was only forty-five minutes from home, so I paid the $20 ramp fee (reasonable), and left. Very professional. I will return.

SAN is the closest airport to downtown San Diego and Jimsair is the only FBO. We were greeted when taxiing up in a C-210, and parked efficiently. Our considerable luggage was immediately put in a van (you can't pull a rental car out onto this airport's ramp). My passenger had booked an off-site rental car (there is a Hertz desk in Jimsair). I requested a top-off, and we were given a shuttle ride to the rental car joint. Jimsair called later to say that the tanks were already full (actually they were down about 16-18 gallons) and asked if I wanted them to try to fuel anyway. I said not to bother, since I had plenty to get home. Without any fuel purchase, ramp fee was $34 per night, not wonderful, but not unreasonable for a busy big-city airport, either. On return to Jimsair for departure, our luggage was unloaded, put on a cart and wheeled out to the plane. Overall, the fuel thing was the only glitch, but in my case it was unimportant and the service was prompt and courteous.

Flew in a Bonanza $20 ramp fee or they waive for 17 gals fuel. Nice terminal and easy quick turn around.

From Gene Fraser on 29-Oct-2005
Stopped in for the evening in a Skyhawk. I called in advance and radioed before starting the approach, about 10 minutes out. We were met by a friendly lineman. The inside crew also had a warm reception. Fuel is not cheap, though you can avoid the ramp fee by taking on a significant load for your type bird. To me, worth it for a walk to dinner in SAN.
