Excellent food and reasonable prices. Pretty exotic items in the menu so be prepared for something new and unusual. Nice view of planes taking off and landing. Don't be surprised if you run into celebrity.

My husband and I went to Typhoon for dinner with two of our friends last night. Food was great and we enjoyed our dinner very much. I was a bit disappointed to find out they do not offer any Pilot discount.

We were at Typhoons recently and as usual, the food, service and airport view were excellent! On this particular trip while dining at Typhoons, we witnessed another aircraft land with its right gear up. As a result the airport was closed down and we couldn't depart. As we waited at Typhoons for over 3 hours for KSMO to re-open, the owner and manager gave us continuous airport updates, free soda, etc. Everyone there was very friendly and accommodating. Thanks to the entire Typhoon's staff for all of your help! Thanks also to Pam from the tower who came over to Typhoons after the tower closed and introduced herself. She was also very, very kind and helpful to us.

We flew into Santa Monica airport to go to Santa Monica Pier. We got there later than planned, and I talked to the host to adjust our reservation time. Typhoon has great authentic Asian food (watch the insects on the menu and the frogs). We had Kal Bi (watch the brown paste, it's very spicy), Pineapple Fried Rice, and Stir-fried Egg Plant; they were all very good. Service was top-notched. We arrived later than planned; when I talked to the host to adjust our reservation time, he told us to take our time and he'll make sure to keep a table for us. We got there the place was busy, but there was always a server to refill our drinks thanks to the paste on the Kal Bi. I recommend it for anyone visiting Santa Monica.

THE HUMP - My last entry was regarding Typhoon. This time I decided to visit its sister restaurant, The Hump, upstairs. I have to admit I was somewhat disappointed. Don't get me wrong, the quality was great, but it was not worth the $250 bill that came at the end (for four people). You definitely get more for your money and a much nicer experience at Typhoon.

Flew down with a few friends on cloudy Sunday night. I really liked the convenience of the transient parking directly in front of the restaurant. I had no problem with the service. The food was excellent and they offered a wide variety of Asian Cuisine. I was surprised to see that they actually had a section on their menu with a selection of about 6 different insects that you can order. Overall it was a good experience. I recommend the garlic spare ribs.

1-18-2008 Typhoon is the Thai restaurant downstairs, upstairs is The Hump, specializing in sushi. We ate at The Hump. Great view, nice atmosphere, terrific service. It is pricey but it is also about the best sushi that I have had. Try the Tempura Shrimp roll.

Great restaurant. Very busy at lunch (Tuesday). Had the pork dumplings and they were fantastic. Look forward to coming back.

Great bar, interesting menu and very good food. Full dinner menu is available at the bar. It gets crowded. Note that there is a late night departure curfew.
