I reported a pretty serious electrical problem about 75 miles before landing, and asked VGT Unicom to alert Ron's that I'd need some service on arrival. Landed to find that the shop had been renamed, ("Silver Platinum" was it?), and Ron was a mechanic-employee rather than shop owner and lead mechanic. When I described my electrical problem to the new owners, I was sent to their avionics guy, although the problem according to my home mechanic in Arizona two days later was, in his words, an obvious slow failure of the alternator. I understand that since this happened sixty days ago, Ron has been released by the new ownership. The level of good service since my comments three years ago when Ron was in charge seems to have become less accurate and far less personal. Avionics guy was a good guy and sharp on avionics, but being sent to him was an inaccurate diagnosis of a failing alternator by their new ownership.

Had a vac pump fail and called Ron. I was unable to get back to the airport to consult with them but they took care the repairs and payment over the phone. Towed my plane back to the main ramp with all the paperwork and my pump core packaged. Was impressed with the level of service and hassle free transaction. Thanks Ron.

On arrival to North Las Vegas last week my Saratoga broke both the front gear actuator and the gear door hinge. Despite a very heavy workload of aircraft in the shop Ron worked me in, diagnosed the problem and had replacement parts in and installed by just after noon the next day. I could not be more pleased with the workmanship, fair price and the way that these fine folks treated me.

Stop at N. Las Vegas to attend NATA convention enroute from California to Houston with Turbo Arrow just purchased. Looked up Ron after reading comments on AirNav and asked if he could look at couple of squawks including landing gear unsafe light coming on during left turns on taxi. He adjusted sensors, fixed door entry lock, added nitro to main gear struts while we attended convention. Extremely clean shop - you could eat off the floor, very helpful, reasonable charge. Highly recommend using Ron and his shop anytime your in Vegas!!!

My engine threw an alternator belt on our flight into VGT, and I didn't have a spare. Karlene and Ron stayed late to order a new belt for overnight delivery. The next day, Ron installed the new belt so that I could depart as planned. They did superior work above and beyond the call of duty for a very fair price. They took my AOG situation seriously and sure helped this visiting pilot. I'd go back to Ron's for service anytime.

I flew into VGT on a Wednesday morning and a tire was flat on landing. We were shuttled to Ron's (we picked it out of a couple FBOs the drive pointed to) and the airport tug brought the plane. Karlene pointed us to a decent lunch (across the street) and Ron said he would fix the flat. They did great work (and found the flat was due to a factory defect, so he made sure he bagged all the evidence and wrote it up). Great service, friendly, and a fine price for the work done. Very knowledge mechanics.

Flew in to Las Vegas last week for a convention. When we were ready to depart engine would not start. Ron's sized the problem up as a bad battery. Charged me $308.00 for a Gill G35 and tried to convince me they were giving me a "deal". $80.00 of this amount was for one hour of labor for installation. After that the engine still wouldn't start. Turned out to be a three-inch jumper wire on the starter had broken. Another $80.00 for an hours worth of labor for what was actually 15 minutes of work. I felt like I was taken advantage of because I was a transient customer.
