Smithville is the best GA airport in the Austin area. They have the best fuel prices around, excellent maintenance on the field (SWTA), and great people and friendly staff. Food in town or nearby Bastrop is great. Love being based here!!

I recently flew into Smithville, TX Municipal Airport (84R). There have been some very welcome changes there over the past few months. Most notably, they now have an instrument approach to both runways, the price of fuel is more reasonable than most, and they now have three courtesy cars. The price of fuel and being almost certain a courtesy car will be available to use for lunch or shopping, make it a great place to land for local flyers or pilots flying cross-country. One mile into town for restaurants and many shops on Main Street. Nice small town hospitality.
