I agree the fence to keep people away from the ramp is not welcoming. I had to walk around to find my way in and it took me under the strut of an aircraft in maintenance past the fans from the kitchen over oily asphalt to find the door. Also, it appears there is no convenient transient parking near the restaurant. I taxied past several areas marked as reserved for one thing or another before I taxied up hill to the fuel pump area. I wanted to comment to the workers at the restaurant, but they were not welcoming or particularly friendly, so I'm posting my comment here.

Wings is a great restaurant to sit at the patio & watch the traffic. As far as a fence, there's a barrier around the Wings patio. Just walk around until you see the opening. You are able to walk to Wings from the field.

Wings Grill is an excellent airport restaurant and we and many others have enjoyed flying into Auburn for years for breakfast or lunch at Wings. Since our last visit the Airport has put up a fence between Wings and the transient parking area with no indication how to get to the restaurant from your airplane. We finally figured it out, but I have to say this fencing has been done on the cheap and sends a message that the ramp is a dangerous place and pilots that fly in for a meal at Wings aren't necessarily welcome. I can understand fencing to keep non-aviators from wandering around the ramp, but Auburn Airport could have done a much better job combining ramp safety and pilot access to Wings Restaurant. This tacky fencing sends the wrong message, and is a discredit to Wings Grill that for years has made Auburn Airport a special place to fly in to.
