FBO PIREP: Local aviator flew into DTS as part of America's 250th celebrations in Destin on July 4th. Topped off & on deck for just over an hour to brief the event. Line guys were all over it & provided excellent service but was shocked when I received my final bill. For just 7.5 gallons of gas, the total with all the hidden fees was $117.25. Bottom line - that comes out to over $15.60 a gallon! For all that, the facilities are decidedly subpar, the "free" water bottles tepid on a hot day, and of all things... I was charged a $40 dollar "event fee" on America's 250th birthday! And for what may I ask? Corporate greed? Decidedly uncool & definitely Un-American. Recommend my fellow aviators steer clear of this money-trap...I know I will!

Expensive! $40 'facility' fee (waived for 'top off' or 19+ gallons), $10 security fee, parking fee by the hour ($2/h first 11, then $1/h after that), $2 'concession' fee, and high fuel costs. Access 6 AM to 10 pm without additional fee. Free coffee and cookies inside.

Used to be reasonably priced access to PUBLICLY FUNDED infrastructure. Now it's a clear representation of how capitalism fails into oligarchy when municipalities grant monopolies on backhanded deals. The publicly financed infrastructure here is now claimed by private interests and can charge YOU whatever fees they want. Fail.
