When weather forced a diversion to land while over western Kentucky, KGDA, (Marion-Crittenden County James C Johnson Regional Airport) was the nearest available. The AF/D does not sufficiently reveal the warm and generous hospitality of the FBO crew. The threatening thunderstorms produced an immediate offer to hangar our Diamond D40 against the weather, for which we were very grateful when a tornado warning was issued. The ready refueling, the comfortable waiting room, and the friendly and informative staff, was over seen by Jim Johnson himself. Equipped with a loaner vehicle and good recommendations for lodging and restaurants, what started out as an exigency was transformed into a pleasant added adventure of the journey.
