Pilots should be aware that Donalsonville Municipal Airport has just completed a project to extended the parallel taxiway to the departure end of runway 36, In addition, full taxiway lighting and pilot controlled lighting (PCL) after 11:00 P.M. Local time has been completed. PAPI's are installed, and will be in service as soon as FAA performs a fly in test procedure. Stop in and visit.

I hangar my plane at 17J and have nothing but good things to say about it. The services are great.... The hangar rent is very reasonable, the fuel prices are usually some of the lowest in the area, the office is very accommodating, the runway and taxiway are in great shape, the airport is secure, and best of all, my fellow pilots who also hangar there are very helpful! Best airport I've ever hangared at!

I previously reported on the very good self serve facility here. On my most recent visit, I had significant problems with their credit card reader. It was not functioning, and I would not have been able to obtain gas had the office not been open to call the city manager. He arrived within 5 minutes, and overrode the mechanism so that the pump would dispense fuel. Of course this was manual, so no credit card, but the manager enabled me to fuel my plane and remit a check to him via the mail upon my return home. VERY GENEROUS AND TRUSTING!!!! I'm sure this was a one-time event and any machine can malfunction. I will return, even though their bathrooms are in need of more regular servicing. They offered us a loaner car for lunch, but we didn't need it as we brought our own lunch for the trip.

I fly from St Louis to Ft Lauderdale FL and have found 17J to be the finest fuel stop. I can land, fuel, visit the restroom, buy a bottle of water and be airborne in 19 minutes. Wish they had some snack vending. Would love to come back and visit the town. Best fuel prices, good approach with no obstructions. Runway is A-1 shape as is the fuel delivery. Be sure and stop.

Asphalt runway in excellent condition. Self-service fuel pump works perfectly. Restrooms are accessible after hours; instructions for access are on the fuel pumps. Stopped here many times before. Great place to stop before entering Florida with it's generally higher fuel prices.

Me and my Archer echo the VERY positive comments expressed below. The best self-serve facility I've come across. The personnel are friendly AND helpful. Best fuel prices too. All this and convenient proximity to airways make this an ideal stop.

I met a retired Chevrolet dealer there and his hospitality was super. Great fuel prices and a free loaner makes this one of the best airports to come to.

We stoped here for fuel and to spent the nigtht. The airport is small, clean and well maintained. "Patch" was very helpful and left us the keys for the courtesy car after hours. The fuel price was very resonable. We met the Mayor "Marty" who helped us tie down the plane. This is a pilot friendly Airport and we give it an excellent recommendation.

Terminal access for restroom's, etc., now available 24 hrs by a code lock on door. Pilot's should know or have access to code in their AFD or chart's.

My son and I were fortunate to happen upon Donalsonville airport on 12/29/05 while traveling the country looking for airports where we could camp out. On landing we met Jerry Isler and Rodger, two very friendly local pilots. When we asked about camping, we were welcome right away. We were then offered a courtesy car. Mr. Marty Shingler brought the car keys out to us. He then made sure we had every thing we needed for a comfortable night stay. The self-serve gas pump was easy to reach and operate. The price was reasonable. The airport was spotless and very well maintained. But the best part was meeting the very welcoming friendly people of Donalsonville. Thanks!

GREAT GA AIRPORT! Airport folks were friendly, gas reasonably priced, loaned courtesy car overnight. Call ahead to make have car keys placed for after hours access and will place the car outside ramp area, locked after 5 pm, plenty of folks offered to come and unlock it after hours or weekend. Cingular phone service is marginal but there's a payphone available. Several hotels 2-3 miles away. SS fuel worked great, limited tie-downs, most in grass area. A great place to stop when heading to ORL! Thank you!

A good stop for less expensive fuel. The SS pump works very well. But the office building is closed on Sundays. When it's closed, there is still a payphone outside, but no potty. We will continue to use 17J for fuel stops.

Very easy self serve at a good price. Many of the airport commissioners are pilots and work hard to keep the gas prices as low as possible. Friendly atmosphere; there was a small group in the office. BTW, my Verizon cell phone worked fine on the ramp and in the office.

Great stop for affordable gas heading to/from Florida! The FBO is unmanned so there are no set hours for the building to be open. Two weeks ago the building was locked - had to go behind the hangar. Yesterday it was open (they were crop dusting); what a relief! No phone or weather capabilities inside; just a lounge and a rest room. Used my cell phone in digital roam to file my next leg. You can always stop for gas and then puddle jump to Dothan or Tallahassee for facilities... PS - Keep a heads up for crop dusters as you arrive/depart. I called for Rwy 18 on the CTAF several times and then met one head on who was using Rwy 36!
