Yesterday was my second time in this month with similar experiences. After landing and immediately buying fuel the employee watched me fuel the airplane and when my mother was helping push the airplane in a slip he walked up, I assumed to help push, only to tell me to come inside and register for the tie down fees. I will never top off at this airport only enough to get me home! Tie downs on an empty ramp are never waved with purchase and worst customer service I have ever experienced. Sure shows it a govt run airport. Never answered Unicom and while fueling I asked fuel price..."I don't know but its under $4".... I paid $4.29..... Good job Buaufort Co.

We stopped in at Beaufort County Airport. Very clean facility with friendly folks. I assure you Barbara Jean's restaurant is worth the stop. This is one of the few airports that provide ASR approaches, courtesy of the Marine controllers.

Arrived on a Sunday about noon, was given the key to a crew car and directions to Barbara Jean's restaurant (about 2 miles) had a great lunch, everything from seafood to meatloaf, returned to find the plane fueled as requested. Very friendly service and they also have self-service pumps. Great place to stop.

I received wonderful service from Joel and Paul at the ARW FBO. The crew car was out for maintenance and Joel took my partner and me downtown for a bite to eat -- Barbara Jeans is an excellent restaurant. They also fueled my plane in the pouring rain. Super courteous and customer oriented crew!

Our experience at KARW (formerly 73J) was good, with no glitches. The staff was friendly and attentive and prompt with service. The facility is clean and attractive. We arrived at Beaufort County Airport on Labor Day weekend, expecting to have to fend for ourselves at an airport we had never before visited, but that was not the case. A call to Unicom late Sunday afternoon got an immediate response. We rented a car from Enterprise, which has pick-up and delivery service from its office in Beaufort. (There is an independent car rental company at the airport, but prices were not to our liking.) Hurricane Hanna scared us away later in the week, but other than that our experience was quite pleasant. We chose Beaufort County over Hilton Head because (1) we were not staying on the island and (2) we don't have a corporate expense account.

I can understand Mr. Richard's frustration but the County, which runs the airport, does not rent cars. Cars can be had from Doug Carmody's operation, Payless I think the name is, or from Enterprise. I have NO idea who Dave might be; the FBO manager is Joel and the linemen and weekend guys are pretty helpful when you need something. ARW is friendly place - most of time.

Never again!! Called KARW July 16 and spoke with "Dave" about renting a car starting July 19. He took down all my information, including credit card number, and informed me that if we didn't follow through and rent the car, we'd be charged one-day's rent on the credit card. He also asked if we were flying on an IFR flight plan. When I said yes, he said "Great, that will let us track your arrival here." Arrived Saturday, July 19 and was met with the most arrogant "Dave" I've ever had the misfortune of dealing with in GA. Without detailing his attitude, his mantra that day was, "We don't have any cars." No explanation as to why, "We don't have any cars." When I asked for the number of the rental car office, he snidely gave me the number where he was standing. Then, the topper . . . "Why don't you just fly to Hilton Head and get a car there?" Finally, without further ado, it was back to his burger and the TV. Just another day in the life of a government employee at KARW. BEWARE KARW!!

73J is a nice place. Home of a great Simulator training program, for the money is among the best in the USA. The program is owned and operated by Doug Carmoudy a retired US Airways Captain. There is one problem with 73J the airport manager an employee of the county unlike everyone else I met in the area. The airport manager is a miserable + arrogant. Well enough I had a jammed door on my Mooney and was trying to make my departure time Dave and Doug were helping with my problem I asked the airport manager for help and he smugly stated I do not fly or work on Mooney's and walked away. Would not even offer a wrench...Also that morning the price of fuel approx. $5.32 and was going up that day to $5.92 I asked if he could hold the price until after my one hour training flight he answered no...I will let all the Mooney Pilots I know I am a member of Mooney pilots Assn + Mooney Owners Assn about the arrogance of the airport manager. If you see him stranded on the street drive by HE WOULD.

Outstanding!!! Hilton Head wanted to charge me a $28 landing fee for a Mooney M20F; Beaufort is a great alternative. They gave me a crew car, coffee and donuts. Even my Basset Hound was given dog biscuits. I will definitely be back!

Gene was just great. Helpful and great to speak with. When we discovered that we needed AA batteries he dug into his own stash to find some for us. We'll be back, thanks again.

A great experience. Joe, the manager, was very friendly and helpful. Gave us directions to town and suggested a restaurant for brunch. Beaufort is a beautiful town. We did not get fuel and he offered us the crew car anyway. We will definitely return here.

Stopped in 2 weekends in a row this time. Fuel truck was broken so I had to self-serve. Not a problem except they are now charging $5.00 per night for tie down on a ramp that is virtually empty.

Very friendly and pilot friendly airport. Self service pumps available and full serve is only $0.16/gal more! I highly recommend this as a good stop.
