Dear Pilots & Aviation Community I'd like to address a recent comment regarding an individual's experience at KBWD. It serves as a valuable reminder of the critical importance of thorough preflight procedures, including checking NOTAMs at not only your departure and destination airport, but the enroute portion as well. I also flew that day and there Was a NOTAM issued for Fuel at Brownwood. (Effective 8/12 100LL Fuel not Avail) They informed me it will be up and running soon. As pilots, we understand that overlooking essential information in NOTAMs can have serious consequences and impact the safety of our flights. It is our shared responsibility to adhere to best practices and ensure thorough pre-flight inspections to maintain a high standard of safety and operational awareness. I encourage pilots to learn from this experience and to prioritize diligent pre-flight habits, including thoroughly reviewing NOTAMs, to enhance safety and efficiency during every flight

I took off from Ft. Worth Meacham enroute to my home in Central Texas. I decided to top off my fuel before landing at my home field where the pump is inoperative. Foreflight displayed a temptingly low price for fuel in BWD so I overflew Grandbury. No I did not check the NOTAM. Upon landing, shutting down and lifting the cover on the pump I found a 3x5 card stating the 100LL was in operative. There was no comment in the AWOS, no large signage to prevent shut down. I checked again and the temptingly low price for 100LL still showed on Foreflight. Fortunately I had fuel to get to another source. Very discourteous, thanks Brownwood for wasting my time and fuel. Hopefully this will save others from the same.

They now have a new 100LL truck for full service. If you use the self serve pump pull the lever and wait about 30 secs before the pump starts flowing.

Flew in yesterday for lunch and was advised by the line guy that because there 100LL fuel truck is no longer running there will not be full service for fuel. You will have to go to the self-serve pump for 100LL. It may be months before they get another 100LL fuel truck. Jet-A is still full service as well as self-serve.

Flew into KBWD on 3/29/2022 for a quick meeting. Service was excellent with a crew car waiting for us. Bobby and the crew always do a wonderful job even when they are very busy with the fire crews. Great FBO!
