Thoughtful and considerate staff. Purchased fuel to offset landing fees, they overfilled the order causing a 200-pound difference between the wing weight. They asked me if I wanted the gas pumped to the other wing, or what did I want. I know that mistakes happen, but they stood up to resolve the issue kindly and considerately. I would return.

I was planning to fly into CAE for a couple of hours and use CAE AIR because there were no ramp fees/minimum fuel purchase requirements listed anywhere on AirNav. However, when I called to confirm this, I was told by "Sarah", that for two hours on their ramp, there is a $10, or 10-gallon minimum ramp fee.

A week and a half ago I flew an Arrow into CAE on Saturday and departed Sunday. I chose Columbia Aviation to save $.30/gal over Eagle. FBO is a little outdated but no big deal. Only one guy on duty any time I was there, and he had to lock the front and flight line doors whenever not at the desk. This wouldn't be bad except this guy liked to lock the doors and go play on the Internet in the pilot lounge (for an hour). When my brother was lost trying to find the FBO, he was very put out giving him directions from the other side of the field. Sunday afternoon I intended to pick up a relative at Lowcountry and bring them back to Columbia. Despite confirming an 8pm close time with the attendant, when I returned at 7:20 he was gone, the FBO was locked, and I only got my relative out by tripping the emergency release on the vehicle gate. The experience could be worse, but unless I show up with dry tanks in my twin, I will probably pay the extra and go to Eagle in the future.

Although I had never been into CAE before, I contacted Columbia Aviation a week prior to my two-week visit to CAE in May 2009, to inquire if they could perform a several repairs to my M20C Mooney. (I do not have a mechanic at my home base.) Nick at Columbia Aviation accepted the challenge and kept me in the loop on each of the repairs, the different costs, acquisition of the parts and the progress made. Everything worked out perfectly thanks to his effort and kindness to my Mooney and me. I would HIGHLY recommend Columbia Aviation to anyone flying into CAE!!
